They have no faith in Tebow, and this is the perfect opportunity to get rid of him. It is possibly the last and only opportunity they will have to get rid of him and groom their own guy internally without stupid fans ruining it. If they keep him around and Peyton proves to be washed up in a year or two, they will once again feel all the pressure to give Tebow the job. Trade him now, with fans high on the idea of Manning, then draft somebody this year and start the process for the future right away.

What do you think they can get in return?

I'm not entirely sure that they care.

Already rumors that Patriots could go after Tebow, my god, can you imagine the union of the douchebag Patriots fans with that of the the unbearable "Tebowites"? Society is not equipped to handle that.

I don't see why the Patriots have interest in Tebow. Maybe just to piss off the Dolphins?

McDaniels is back in New England, that could be one possible source of influence.

Death to Tebowmania. I can see the Dolphins giving up too much in a trade. They're terribly desperate for a QB.

It wouldn't shock me to see Miami draft Ryan Tannehill if he's available since Mike Sherman is now the OC there. I'd imagine he's high on RT, though I don't see him becoming a starting QB in the NFL. Especially not as a rookie.

Don't they have Mallett? Man would it be fun to see Brady have to answer Tebow questions.

I think the Patriots thing is just someone saying "Oh hey, McDaniels is there....lets start a rumor."

I bet he ends up back in Florida....either Miami or Tampa.

The Pats would probably use him with Gronkowski and Hernandez both on the firld somehow most of the time. And he'd probably get 5 or 6 snaps a game in some sort of wildcat formation.

I could see the Patriots using him the way most people thought he could be useful coming out of college--in sort of a wildcat package. Maybe just a couple of plays a game. Maybe just in short yardage situations. I know Tebow never just wanted to be a wildcat QB, but the Patriots seem like the one team where players wouldn't argue. Belichick is thought of as a genius and I don't think Tebow would argue with him.

Belichick also seems like he wants every possible tiny advantage he can get, and maybe he thinks that even for just 3-4 short yardage plays during a game that Tebow could give him an advantage.

I can't imagine they would think of him as a serious option to be Brady's successor some day.

As Brady gets older getting him off the field for a few plays a game could help, while utilizing Tebow for a few plays a game would also be the way to both maximize his abilities and keep him alive. New England can't run the ball, but they could with Tebow.

I would think a couple later draft picks.

It'll be interesting to see what Tebow brings as a return. I wouldn't think much, but I guess it's possible Miami or Jacksonville overpay.

They were gonna pay Alex Smith $8 mil a year. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if they surrendered a second round pick or something.

Well this sucks.

The only good thing is this will surely piss off all the Tebow loving idiots.

Man, the Broncos WRs just shot up fantasy football draft boards.

I liked Decker with Tebow throwing the football. He's going to be a stud receiver with Manning throwing to him.

Mortensen reports that the Broncos will put Tebow on the block immediately that they complete the signing of Manning and will not hold out for a significant offer. Mortensen also reports that the Broncos will cut Tebow if they fail to find a trade partner
