How do you suspend a GM for 8 games? I'm not sure how that works.

That's my question. Does he just have to stay away and have no contact with the organization?

You don't let him in the building or let him make any moves, or have any conversations with personel.

So does he get to work between now and the opening game?

I doubt it. The NFL operating season "started" with free agency didn't it?

Does a player that suspending for the first few games of the season get to participate in OTA's and training camp? I honestly don't know.

Also, the NFL trade deadline is after Week 6 so he wouldn't be able to make any trade deadline deals. Not that it happens a lot.

Payton's is effective April 1st, so I would assume the others are as well.

Unreal. Belichick was complicit in straight up cheating with SpyGate and he just got a fine.

I'm not saying the Saints and/or some of their personnel shouldn't be punished but suspending the head coach for a whole year? Excessive.

Mark Sanchez sucks, I don't know how you don't make Tebow the starter.

Because Tebow sucks also, except that in order to feign effectiveness with him you need to install a high school offense?

Right, but the Saints were also complicit in straight up cheating, warned repeatedly not to do it and completely ignored those warnings, so, well, this happens.

Sanchez's team has won a hell of a lot more than Tebow's.

The Broncos kinda suck.

At least he'll have time to make his leg better.

“I did talk to him and he’s stunned to say the least,” Glazer said. “I think the entire team thought maybe there’d be a four-game suspension, but not a year. I said, ‘Are you OK?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m not OK.’ He is stunned. He’s going to lose about $8 million. He is beside himself here.”

Glazer reports that Payton’s plan for the four-game suspension he had braced himself for was to have assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt take over as interim head coach while Payton served the suspension. But that plan is now out the window because Vitt has been suspended six games for his own role in the bounty scandal.

The Saints may now have either offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael or former Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo, who was slated to replace Gregg Williams as defensive coordinator, step in as the head coach.
