This makes no sense for the Broncos or Peyton, IMO. Broncos aren't better than then Niners and Peyton is old and ready to fall apart. Who plays QB when we find out Peyton can't hack it anymore?

They'll worry about that in 2015 when it's relevant.

He's 35 and his neck was recently fused back together. I'd say your assessment is pretty optimistic.

I'm an optimistic kind of guy. Plus, he's one of the GOATs at *the* position the NFL goes out of it's way to protect. Prepare to see SO MANY flags for that Bronco offense.

I'm not sure 15 yards and automatic 1st down is going to make up for paralyzing Peyton Manning.

maybe they'll get 30 yards and an exemption allowing them to re-activate bubby brister.

I'm pretty sure I heard Elway say straight up that he didn't see Tebow as the guy, moving forward. Right during the Tebow streak, too.

Sucks to be Tebow right now.

Elway: "Tebow is our QB of the future"

*signs Peyton Manning, trades Tebow for a tackling dummy*

What? His life is pretty awesome.

Mike Tolbert to the Panthers, why?

Seems like an utterly pointless signing to me.

not if you hope to flip stewart for a pick

Stewart's four Years younger than Williams, wouldn't they want to keep him?

The Broncos were a decent team with a horrible QB. They needed to move on and develop a real QB, but that couldn't happen with the neanderthals demanding more Tebow. They play in the worst division in football and can easily dominate it next year with quality QB play. Manning gives them that chance. It's the easiest road to the playoffs for Peyton. If he can't hack it and falls apart quickly, then it wouldn't have worked for anybody, so you aren't making much of a point. This way, they can draft somebody this year and hope to get 2 years out of Manning. Plus, they can play a real offense and develop the other 10 players in the unit instead of dumbing it down to junior high level stuff that is centered around a one dimensional hack.

That explains why they were so good with Kyle Orton.

Whether he is or he isn't, they were near the top of the league in passing yards per game when he was QB.

Orton was the same QB in Denver as he was in Chicago or anywhere else. He's good from 0-10 yards. Beyond that, he's not NFL caliber. Nearly all of those extra yards in Denver were YAC from Orton's patented 5-10 yard dump passes. It's why he lost his job to Tebow and is having trouble finding work as a back up now.

He just signed a very lucrative contract as a backup.

Fair enough. But, the key word is "backup", which is essentially the point I was trying to make.

Yep, I was hoping he would come back to Chicago. He's a completely average QB but there is a lot of value in a league average QB, especially when he's your backup.

Which would make one question why a "decent team" was losing with him.
