The only wildcard I see where we have a distinct advantage lies in our DL. If they can stop the run and force Oakland to throw, its a good chance bad Palmer will show up. We could pick a few.

Heyward-Bay was hurt yesterday, is he out?

I see Hanie/Palmer as a push at worst.

I'm starting Hanie in fantasy this week and I suggest you all do the same.

I would but I'm not sure you left any kool-aid for the rest of us.

I wouldn't go to Oakland by choice.

Yeah, there's a reason I'm skipping going to this game.

I can't see Heyward-Bay playing after being carted off, not with the newer tests.

not that i doubt Hanie will be the next Tom Brady, but this is a gross matchup for a QB in his first career start, as the Raiders might be the best team in the league at getting to the QB

Probably a good time to get off the bus running the ball. Then run it on the field too. Run it back on to the bus for good measure.

Remember when Favre's dad died and he played that night against Oakland on MNF and threw like 900 TD passes?

I'm expecting similar results.

all the more reason (or benefit) of a Hanie start, save Jay.

There's no way he plays. All the aftermath of his injury in statements by the Raiders have included the phrase "has movement in all his extremities". That's usually a good sign in the long-term, not for short-term.

I don't the believe the defense is good enough to win with a game manager as QB. One way or the other the offense must make some plays, probably with the passing game. How many is Oakland to commit to the run defense 8 or 9? Will they even consider the passing game?

Why would you say this when you just witnessed our defense win a game vs. Detroit in exactly this fashion?

Counting on the defense to score doesn't seem like a solid game plan, I hope I'm wrong.

Well, but it's all we've got now. And if any team can hang their hat on defense + special teams, surely it's us.

we could win this game 12-9, a total defensive struggle. but I doubt we win if it becomes a shootout

Nothing I've seen from Palmer suggests he will shoot it out with anyone

I know he's had some 'good' games but he is just gearing to throw some picks, you can see it in his eyes.

It's a bad plan to build a franchise around for the long haul, but it's not an absurd concept to rely on for a game or two, especially with this defense and special teams. They are designed to score.

I was just thinking about this...the Bears season has eerily mirrored the Texans season this year.

-Both teams started out with impressive blowout victories over 2010 playoff teams (yeah I know Colts without manning, but some people still thought they'd be decent)

-Struggled afterwards with some of the better teams in the league, which bumped down their perception. For Houston it was Saints, Raiders and Ravens, for the Bears it was Saints, Packers, Lions.

-Both then went on winning streaks in which they dominated the competition. Bears dominated MIN, TB (though late comeback made it close), DET and SD (with a close game against PHI). Texans dominated TEN, CLE, and TB (with a close game against JAX).

-Then, with both sitting at 7-3, playing their best football and finally gaining respect from everyone, they both lose their QBs, who are both essential pieces to the offense, for a long time.

What does this mean? Absolutely nothing. I just thought it was an interesting comparison.

Hanie will be productive.

3 INTs is productive

i think he freaks everybody out and we win the game. when i say freak out, i mean throws for 250 yards, 3 tds 1 int, and makes a couple of plays that get the meatballs all hot and bothered and talking about how he should have been starting all along.

He'll also take a big hit and stay in the game, and everyone will pretend like Cutler wouldn't have.
