DO NOT PUNT THE BALL You run it all the way back to the end zone and take the safety. Drives me nuts when teams just give away the ball when they don't have to.

I don't think the punter is fast enough to out run everyone in 9 seconds. Then they get the ball in your territory with a shot to win it.

Exactly, that's riskier than just punting it out of bounds. Maybe if you put someone who isn't the punter back there to do it.

Why would you snap the ball to the punter?

True and I thought of that after I posted it, still seems like a bigger risk than kicking it out of bounce to me. At least from where the Bears were.

When you punt the ball out of bounds, the clock doesn't stop until the ball hits the ground.

I don't think Podlesh would have been able to run 9 seconds off the clock if given the opportunity.

HOW ARE THE BEARS GOING TO STOP THE EAGLES? OH NO!

Like I said before the game, they ain't the only offense on the field. Put up 30 on them and only allowed 17 on defense, including 7 points from a 41 yard drive. But I'm sure Detroit will be favored by 6 next week. Keep hatin ESPN!

I will take the anticlimactic win, thank you.

Good win for the Bears! On the road, could have folded after the Eagles took the 3rd quarter lead--like we've seen them fold before.

Was that really Major Wright making some tackles?

If anyone catches him it's a fumble near the end zone waiting to happen and the coach that allows that to occur is shot dead within 24 hours.

Sounds good in theory. I wouldn't mind the punter taking a few seconds before punting it out of bounds. 4 seconds of stalling + 5 second hang time = win.

But now that I think about it, you really risk the kick being blocked and returned for a TD or at least getting the ball in an area where you don't have to throw a hail Mary to score a TD.

Maybe with 3 seconds, but with 9 seconds that is awfully risky. Not that easy to elude 11 guys for 9 seconds. If you punt it, the only way they win is with a hail mary.

Man, I'm so hyped right now. Huge win. What about that offensive line? Cutler did get hit a lot in the middle of the game, but they did a wonderful job pulling the guards around the edge with the TEs and OTs setting the edge at the line of scrimmage. Lance Louis was very strong in particular.

Game balls to Lance Louis, Earl Bennett, Lance Briggs, and Jay Cutler who made some tough 3rd down throws on the money. If not for the 2 fumbles, Forte would have played excellently as usual.

I like creativity but in my mind there is no need to get cute. Kick it out of bounds and make the other team have their 1% shot at a hail mary if they can even throw it that far.

If coming into the game you knew that the Eagles would get 14 points off Forte turnovers, you'd think the Bears would have had no shot, right?

Lovie postgame: "The Chicago Bears shouldn't come in and be 8 point underdogs"

If that kind of outrageous spread happens again dammit, I'm going to lay money. I really should have. Completely stupid line.

Peppers deserves some props, too.

The worst case in running backwards is they tackle you in the end zone with a second or 2 left and you wind up with a free kick following the safety, putting you in the exact same situation as the punt.
