I went back and looked at King's fine 15 and saw this note on the Eagles (ranked 11, three spots ahead of the Bears):

As I wrote earlier, Nnamdi Asomugha is getting comfortable in the Eagles defense, and is texting and emailing his defensive coordinator during the week. Just what teams on the Eagles' schedule need -- Nnamdi getting it.

Drew Magary is spot on in his ripping of King for his ridiculous columns. Why is the fact that he texts his coach during the week the least bit meaningful?

lol, I bet KSK had a field day with that one.

Thanks for all the support. The good luck charm @KristinCav is back in her Bears gear, should be a fun second half of the season.

Are they doing it again?

i'm sure.

he just needs to marry some groupie and forget about love.

Then why would he get married?

I think this is all about him getting a piece of "inside info" and him trying to force it to fit somewhere in his article.

Yes! We were laughing at that guy during the game. They showed him in the crowd and the Bears promptly converted a 3rd and long. I was hoping they'd go back to chubs after the completion.

I can't believe how well the O-line played, it's good to see them doing what they can to help protect Cutler. Most of the pre-snap motion is gone. Even though Bennett isn't a #1, he's the only one Cutler trusts. I was glad to see Melton have a good game.

You're just begging to be shot up with a paintball gun.

They've run blocked well all year, especially on the move. I don't think I've ever seen a team run this well consistently outside of the tackle with guards and C pulling. I was glad to see some designed rollouts in there also. I thought they did a nice job of turning it around after it seemed the Eagles were starting to get some pressure and the running lanes were starting to get clogged (end of 2nd quarter, start of 3rd).

Again I have to ask though, do you mess with the OL now and put Carimi in there? That's the 3 best OL games of the year and probably the best 3 games the OL has played in the last 2 years. 3 sacks in the last 3 games, and 1 or 2 of them were Cutler's fault.

I don't think so. There is almost an inevitability that you will have a chance to put him in there later. It's not a desperate need right now, and while it might be a somewhat cowardly stance, I'd rather not upset the apple cart. They are playing well and you might as well reward them by keeping it going.

Yeah, that's the way I'm leaning. If he was able to go last night and was 100%, I was more than willing to throw him in there. But 3 games in a row is a trend. And honestly, Spencer has looked good enough at RG to keep in there (though he seems to have 1-2 really bad plays per game...see Babin late hit near goaline last night), and Louis has looked like a natural at RT. He's holding his own in the pass game and has been wonderful in the run game, most of the yards last night came to the right, other than the big Forte cutback run, which a big gain was there on the right side if he stuck with the play. Like you said, there will be injuries and Carimi will get in there. Worst case scenario, you get him in on the goalline as an extra blocker now then you start him from scratch next year.

Win next week, and the Bears would basically own the biebreaker against any team they're fighting with for wild card position...except the Saints.

How is that possible? If the Bears win next week, they tie the season series against Detroit 1-1, and their records would be tied at 6-3. However, the next 2 tiebreakers are division record and conference record. Bears would be 2-2 in the division and Lions would be 2-1, and in the confernece, Bears 6-3 and Lions 4-3.

Bears would still have Seattle, Green Bay, and Minnesota in their conference schedule, Lions with Carolina, Green Bay, New Orleans, Minnesota, and Green Bay.

I could see saying that the Bears would be in a good position for the tiebreaker over the Lions, but not claiming they would basically own the tiebreaker. In fact, if Detroit manages to win one of the GB games, it puts a big hurt on our tiebreaker chances because it would mean the Bears would also have to beat GB to win that tiebreaker. And week 17 is Detroit/GB in GB, with the Packers possibly having nothing to play for. So the Lions get to play them in Detroit for the game the Packers will actually try in, and then possibly get a disinterested GB team at home with the tiebreaker on the line.

Common opponents comes before conference record, and the Bears would be in great shape in any multi-team tie with a win Sunday.

I was thinking last night, is there a more overrated player in the NFL than Desean Jackson? He's basically a slightly better version of Johnny Knox. Yeah, he will give you that huge deep play now and then, but he does nothing else as a WR. He doesn't go across the middle, he doesn't fight for balls, he doesn't block. Of course the BooYaa's have anointed him a great WR, but he's really not.

He's a disappearing act. Maclin's the #1 on that team easily.

So funny that now we don't have room for Carimi to come back to.

what was the story with the fake punt? On the field it was very obvious from the start what was happening, with 2 uncovered gunners available to catch it. Did the Bears know it was coming and decide to defend against with an all out blitz? Were they just going for the block and caught off guard? That play seemed strange from field level.

Looked wide open, but the punter threw a ball that made Tebow laugh.

No, you let him get 100% healthy and then make that choice. There's point in rushing him since by most reports he took a step back last week.

Once he's healthy and the o-line plays well again, you still keep him on the bench.

What an awesome game. Cutler looked fantastic out there. A huge welcome back to our only legitimate receiver, Earl Bennett. Absolutely thrilled that the coaching staff went with a game plan that forced Vick to throw the ball, because he's really not so good at that.

While the idea of running into the endzone to kill the last 9 seconds might seem like a good idea, I'm glad they didn't do it in this instance. If you line anyone other than the punter behind the center, the defense will know what you are up to. They are already sending speedy outside guys to block the punt and they have the momentum going in that direction while the punter has to catch the ball, turn and run. If he doesn't get to the endzone, the opposing defense is getting a free play to win the game. To even consider that play, you have to be 100% certain that the runner can get to the endzone, and I'm not convinced, personally. I could see the punter not even catching the ball as he anticipates running before the ball gets to him. It's not his regular job to turn and run. I guess with the Eagles not having any timeouts remaining, you could put the punter in the huddle and just not have him line up behind center, which would not give the Eagles a chance to get a different defense into the game or make a last second adjustment. Pretty risky.

The only way I would be comfortable with the Bears trying to run out the clock if they go max protect on the punt, have the personal protector turn and run at the punter at the snap of the ball, and take a hand off running to his own endzone. He should also have another player running with him to throw a block to ensure the 9 seconds is run off.

I think it would give the Eagles a moment of pause as the punter catches the ball and takes two steps forward as if he's kicking the ball. Handing it off to a player that is used to being a ball carrier (Bell?) would ensure it's in safer hands. Then, all you have to do is runtowards a corner of the endzone and have your one blocker ready to pick off anyone that threatens to end the play early.

Even in this scenario, which is probably the safest one imaginable, there's a chance the exchanges is messed up and there's a fumble.

So, the real safest play is to kick the ball out of bounds and defend against an almost impossible hail Mary attempt... which is what they did.

Admittedly, a part of me would love to hear a Joniak call for a reverse TD. "15...10...5... SAFETY!"

They were trying to block and were caught off guard, the P has/had the green light to audible on his own in that situation. Ironically enough, that added pressure might've caused him to panic and shot-put it to no one. He was a HS QB.

ESPN just showed the "2 man huddle," 2 Bucs collided trying to get Forte. Anyone GIF that? I havent been in the NFL threads lately.

Who is about to kill #20 with the block on the far right of that GIF? It's too bad that wasn't included as part of the stream. Well, without knowing how it actually turned out, I'll just use my imagination and assume whoever made that block actually put #20 into a season long coma.

Must have been Spaeth, Klutz or Davis.
