Phil Rogers @ChiTribRogers 2m Details

The #Cubs did put in a bid on Yu Darvish, according to a ML source. He fits profile of how Epstein wants to build.

:beg:

Of course, this is the same Phil Rogers that said just 8 hours ago the Cubs were looking at Varitek and Wakefield, just because.

@gcm1979 GCM1979

Huge news for the #Bluejays if my source is correct that the #Bluejays have in fact won Yu Darvish bid. Blog up shortly on jaysprospects.com

Guess we'll see if this is just a blogger trying to pretend to break a story.

This just means Theo put in a posting bid to the Red Sox for Wakefield and Varitek, obviously.

That wasn't credible. This time it is.

I'd say I'd at least want to see an ESPN article on it before buying into it too much, but said article would probably be written by Rogers anyway.

@BleacherNation:

Take it with a HUGE grain of salt, but the buzz is that the Cubs' bid on Darvish was very large. Might not be enough, though.

Nope. No link to the site. :)

I figure people want to know what I've heard, even if it's reeeeeally thin. All I know is that the Cubs have been planning a big bid all along, and now there are anonymous insidery types on Twitter saying the Cubs and Jays had the big bids, and the Jays probably won.

It could be total BS. Just letting folks know in case they can't help but be curious (and want to give in to confirmation bias).

Ace, incarcerated bob is not a reliable source lol.

Good to know (seriously) - but that's just one of three "sources" (and I use that term very loosely) saying the same thing.

I'm emphasizing as strongly as I can, I tweeted that - did not report it on the site, because it was way, way too thin - because folks wanted to know if/what I was hearing. So I gave the "huge grain of salt" here's what I'm hearing tweet. I figure that was a fine middle road.

The last part.

Nothing from him yet from what I could see.

Source says #Cubs put in bid for Yu Darvish, though amount/interest unclear. Rangers, Blue Jays said to be most visible teams scouting Yu.

Olney drops the ultimate bombshell that the Yankees DID put in a bid.

And MLB Trade Rumors misread that and reported that they didn't. rofl

I was wondering if I saw that correctly. Definitely puzzled me briefly until I refreshed.
