Still don't know what the number of winning bid for Darvish was, but sources say the Fighters were very excited by how high it was

It's truly a great day to be a Ham Fighter!

My sources have informed me that the Toledo Mudhens did not, I repeat, did not submit a bid.

Will be a pretty short-sighted move if my sources are wrong and the Pirates did win. They could send him down to the Indy Indians and he'd be a thorn in the Mudhens side for years.

Goldstein or someone from BP said they hoped Tampa wins and admits they saw this on the horison for a decade and had saved all their money for it.

@BleacherNation: #Cubs source couldnt share amount, but offered this on team's Darvish bid: "I wouldn't be surprised if we won."

For around $60m plus another $50-70m to sign him I hope we didn't.

6/$130? Yeah, if I had to.

And all I'd take away for certain from what the source told me is that the Cubs bid quite a bit. He had no idea what other teams bid.

word is, #yankees entered only a modest bid for darvish. not likely to get. indications are winning bid is sky-high

You've got to imagine Toronto or someone went crazy.

Funniest Tweet I've seen said Tebow came out of nowhere and won Darvish in OT.

I laughed a lot harder at that than I should have.

Just recieved this from a credited source. The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers have Out Bid every team except themselves. Also one of the two teams, Blue Jays and Rangers, won the bid with a margin of over 17M....

Is that from a Tweet or from you?

Eye on Baseball

Teams in the bidding have guessed the Blue Jays and Rangers would be among the highest bidders (according to CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler), based upon the respective scouts having been to see Darvish pitch so many times. Also, the general manager for each club went to Japan.

man we are going to be so bad next year

Yeah we aren't going to be good. I would think the Garza to Rangers talks will heat up if the Jays did indeed win the bidding on Darvish. Losing Garza and going with someone like Scott/Lahair/Loney at 1B would put us in top 3 pick territory in the 2013 draft.
