yes, it's a thread. I imagine it'll be quite busy over the next few years.

 

Bryce Harper pummeled some more Class-A pitching last night, but this time, there was a twist: After admiring his tape-measure blast, Harper circled the bases, and as he approached home plate, the 2010 No. 1 draft pick looked at the pitcher, and puckered his lips as if to blow a kiss. Douche. You may also notice Harper’s ditched the Ultimate Warrior face paint in favor of a porn ‘stache.

Douche is right. Then again, do we know the context? Maybe the pitcher brushed him back with a purpose pitch at some point in the game. I think what probably happened is the pitcher was bitching at him for admiring his HR.

Once upon a time, it at least made an effort to resemble legitimate sports competition. Properly exploiting the value of having scripted villains made that effort unnecessary.

 

I'm sure real sports has room for profit from this type of douchebaggery.

Harper's going to be one hell of a villain. Bill Plaschke will get ulcers watching him preen around the basepaths. At least once a week someone will go on ESPN to give a sanctimonious speech about how he's ruining the game. I predict sportswriters start handing out Good Guy Awards to counter all the douchiness coming from DC and it will go to a guy (white, of course) who plays the the game the right way.
