The Illinois meltdown might be worth it to me just to know Illiniguy is probably crying himself to sleep every night.

Get a grip

I did feel really bad for Meyers today tho.

I did too. The way Bruce keeps running the bus over him...

Why do people feel bad for Leonard and openly mock Adam Morrison?

I'm guessing it has to do with Weber being Leonard's coach.

Morrison was crying strictly over the result (presumably). I think there's more to it with Leonard.

That and Myers didn't make as much of a spectacle of himself.

Different situations and circumstances too.

I'd say Burke made up for missing the front end of a 1 and 1 with 90 seconds left.

15-0 at home. Damn. Too bad 3 of the last 4 are on the road, but whatever, its against NW, Illinois and Penn State.

Trey Burke makes my heart flutter

Can't believe the kid is a freshman. You can have your pasty white Cody Zeller for FOTY, but I'll take Burke thank you very much.

I agree, Burke is incredible. He should go pro immediately. :hello:

And I'm not being sarcastic, I want him to go pro.

I'm going to disclaimer this that I am seriously not trolling or trying to argue with Illini fans. Sulley gave Iowa fans a pass and I want to preserve that...

On Leonard, if he was just bawling over how the season has turned out, he needed to not be so [expletive] soft for so many points of the year. The fact that he's that disappointed over it is a good thing. It's endearing. But it's not like he's been balling out and everyone else sucked. It's not like he's been busting his ass. You can't blame everything on the coach. At some point if it means that much to him, he needs to realize he's the best player on the team, a lottery pick and [expletive] demand some change.

I didn't realize Burke was from Columbus. How did Matta not offer him?

He wasn't a top 100 guy.

I'm really [expletive] hopeful with Gesell coming in next year being ranked higher than Craft and Burke, just hope those dumbass evaluators are right.

I don't think anyone is giving Myers a free pass. The fact of the matter is that the Illini have been collectively playing way below their talent level for most of the year and blame for that can definitely be spread around.

But Weber has been brutal and more often than not has served to exacerbate things rather than mitigate the issues. Many of these kids are pretty raw (especially Leonard) and Weber has done a pretty abysmal job of handling them (as evidenced by what we've seen and by his own admission). His use of "tough love" has seemingly been inconsistent and clumsy.

Yesterday was the first time I've noticed him not playing hard. The kid clearly has some growing up to do so I'm not absolving him completely of any blame, but Weber has handled this whole season so abysmally that I have a hard time being too hard on Leonard.

As a side note, he's not getting ripped like Adam Morrison because he doesn't have a ridiculous mustache.

i'm not going to pile on bruce, i think xzero made some good points. but ultimately, what it comes down to, and bruce even admitted it himself, is that in a freelancing offense, he never encouraged them enough to freelance. he never developed their ability to think for themselves, he scripted everything and scripting is not his forte at all.

the motion offense is something you have to teach, you cannot simply tell them how to run it, you have to nurture certain abilities, and it looks like this wasn't done at all.

that is bruce's failing. he gave this team life, but he never taught them how to live.

The interesting thing is that this might happen again next year just in reverse. McGary is a lot like Zeller, and Ferrell and Burke are similar as well.

Zeller has most of the edges statistically. Burke plays more minutes and gets more assists. Zeller shoots a much better percentage, scores more points, shoots better from the free throw line, blocks more shots, gets more steals, and turns it over less. Burke is asked to do more for his team, but Zeller is the much more efficient player.
