Let's talk about Purdue great Charles "Stretch" Murphy from the '30s when they were dominating the Big Ten. Murphy was one of the game's first true big men. At 6'6" (1.98 m), he was an insurmountable force on both ends of the court. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1960 and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1963. Yep I know that game is the same as what is being played now. I also know he's harder than Deron Williams. On account of being dead for over 30 years.

I can take a hint. I've moved on. We can talk about what the teams have done recently and their probability for future success. Yes?

Please wait until we hire a new coach. lol.

It's more fun when my team has a solid recruiter/great coach and your team is in limbo though...

It's even more fun when Indiana is awful.

Yeah, if we wind up with Paul Hewitt, I'd really rather not talk about any sort of basketball for 5 years.

That will be a heroin in the forehead moment to be sure.

Crap, this just turned into a rational discussion on how IU should be turned into a military explosives testing site didn't it? Without any IU fans to actively poke and prod about this, this is really going to slow my day down.

Yeah I don't have my kids today. I was hoping to talk crap all day.

This place would have much better trolling if we had a legit Kentucky fan.

Agreed. Why doesn't UK ever post?

Because of threads like this.

He'd also get really indignant when people called him out on Calapari's issues.

You're not doing a very good job of convincing me why IU should not be bombed into the ground.

Got any from the last 20 years, besides the one Clappy got for beating Illinois last year?

Tweets I'm seeing from Weber's presser today give me reason for optimism. We'll see how the team responds. I want them to make a run so badly, I want to believe, but I just can't.

i hope weber can save his job by making a sweet 16 or deeper run. i'm actively rooting for him now, because it's either we do really really well in the postseason, or we get a new coach. either would be wins in my book.

Same. I know the horrors of a small sample size, but I'm a stupid homer so if it were possible to make a run, I'd feel like it'd mean good things for next year.

I'm sorry, I'm not. One fluke run shouldn't prolong what needs to happen. But, I'd still enjoy the hell out of it.

Anyone following this NCAA mock selection on twitter? They have Illinois as the 42nd overall seed, probably around an 11 seed. Iowa State is at 34.

You just wasted a really good opportunity to troll abuck.

Here's what I actually expect:

Come out and look inspired, and roll Nebraska in Lincoln

Play tough @ OSU for 30 minutes, lose by 9

Beat Iowa by 8, never really dominate, but never look terrible

Blow a late lead vs. Michigan

Lose to Wisconsin, don't get blown out, but never really in it

1-1 in BTT, 1-1 in NIT, Smart hired in April.

I think its great that Deron is coming out to publicly support his coach. But, does it really matter? There were tons of former players at IU that gave their opinion on what IU should do, but its meaningless.

I don't think this makes things any more ugly.

Maybe Deron will become a fan of Iowa or something. Kent Benson is Mr. Purdue right now.
