Also what the hell is it about Bears QBs? Grossman and Cutler together have garnered the most unwarranted hate I have ever seen in my life. Just pathetic.

Cutler rapes babies AND kills puppies. Oh, and Grossman was holding them down while Cutler did it.

I agree. I almost feel like there is some sort of national Chicago hate. I know that can't be true though. Maybe around the midwest there is since we are the big city or whatever and we have loud and boisterous fans. But I've also noticed a lot of people randomly hate on DRose as well. And surprisingly when the Hawks were making a run to the Stanley Cup last year, seemingly neutral team's fans flat out didn't want us to win the Stanley Cup. Maybe its just what I've noticed and isn't really the case with a larger sample size, or maybe I'm just noticing the haters due to being a proud Chicago supporter, I am not sure.

I definitely noticed the Grossman hate and the Cutler hate is right there in front of everyone. But who hates D-Rose? And most neutral observers that I saw wanted us to win the Cup last year.

As someone who thought during the 3rd quarter that Cutler should have been getting treatment even if there was only a 1% chance he could come back, I'll admit I was dead wrong in jumping the gun with limited info.

A grade II MCL is pretty painful. I've had one, and you can't plant, cut or explode off that leg at all. You don't need surgery to fix it-rest and rehab is usually enough-but unless you have a brace and are doing something that doesn't require a lot of movement, you're pretty limited.

The team should have definitively told the sideline reporter or the press he was out instead of questionable, and should have done more to get ahead of the narrative. That's a PR failure.

That said, I'm not at all surprised people are just running with the narrative. We've seen it with Wood, Prior, Sosa, Zambrano, Grossman, Benson, Aramis, Soriano...this city eats it's own.

I fully expect Cutler to get the Grossman treatment next season, and if he starts slowly, heaven help him.

I'm honestly surprised like 95% of the people in this thread are on the same side of the fence. Maybe all the meatballs just called into the radio instead, because that's all I've heard on there for 48 hours straight. The more I think about this, the more I don't blame Cutler. I blame him for his shitty first half, but blaming him for being taken out? Come on now.

"I expect them to stick up for Cutler," Jones-Drew said. "That's your teammate, that's how this league works. I hope they realize I don't have any hard feelings toward Cutler. I never questioned his toughness. It's not a matter of toughness. You have to be tough to play this game

I hope Chris Harris takes his [expletive] knees out the next time thy play.

And all this testimony is important why?

Because the Chicago Bears still don't have a quarterback worthy of the defense, worthy of the special teams, worthy of the effort put forth by the team in almost every other area. And that's the reason the Packers are going back to the Super Bowl instead of the Bears, because Aaron Rodgers is all the things Cutler is not, from preparation to performance

Are you flipping high? Aaron Rodgers had a QB rating in the 50's yesterday and was fairly ineffective after the first quarter. How the hell is he the reason the Packers advanced past the Bears in the NFC title game, which is where Cutler led his team?

He's the guy who has said for a few years that if he had to win one game he wants Big Ben because he's a winner and finds ways to get it done.

I don't think that's completely outlandish. He's surely said dumber things than that.

Of course but that provides some context for his viewpoint. If QB A's team wins the game, he automatically says that QB A had a better game than QB B. He settles every argument about QB's with "who won the game" and pays no attention to how they actually performed individually.

I happen to know a local high school coach out here who asked me about it. I ran into him at the gym and he started on how he didnt think Cutler was a good leader, and asked me if I was buying all of this with the implication that he did.

after my 5 min profanity tirade he looked at me kind of funny. I don't think he expected me to respond the way I did, and neither did I really. he was a bit taken back and tried to smooth it over with some stupid comment about how the "punky qb McMahon...." to which I stoped him mid sentence with "HE HAD 1 GOOD [expletive] YEAR. MCMAHON SUCKED"

I dont think people outside of the Chicago fanbase (and even some inside of it) understand what its like to go year after year with the likes of Moses Moreno or Cate McNown

I should probably apologize to Coach at some point after I cool down a bit.

He was surprised because he's allowing his noggin to be filled with the nonsense without even questioning it.

No offense to him but you gave him what he needed and deserved to hear.

FWIW, same thing happened with LaDanian Tomlinson last year in San Diego. I believe it may have been a similar injury. But he was taken out of the game. He didn't physically fight anyone to stay in. He stood on the sidelines while not getting treatment. And he didn't cheer with pom poms on the sidelines for his teammates.

Yet, LaDanian Tomlinson's heart was never questioned.

Edit: I guess it was his groin and it was 2008. But still, point remains the same.

I'm pretty sure he caught a LOT of flak in the San Diego area (i know some Chargers fans and they were like everyone saying "he got no heart and etc...")... It's just never went national like Cutler did.

Let me guess. When that happened they started bringing up the preseason games LT didn't start as further "proof" he has no heart.

I'm guessing he's referring to more than just one game. Rodgers was one of the best QB's in the league this year and had two amazing playoff games before the NFC Championship game. With all the injuries they've had, he's a big reason why they're in the Super Bowl right now.

Hahaha he didn't play cuz he was still hurt from the same injury somehow??? Then he injured his ankle the opening week of the season.

You're wrong. LDT was ripped to shreds, especially nationally and especially because Phillip Rivers got knee surgery the day after so that he could play the next week. Of course Rivers threw 2 picks and was brutal in the AFC Championship.

Really... Nationally? I don't remember that. I remember Jim Brown calling him out and some other stuff, but it was no one near like Cutler's though...

Oh nowhere near Cutler. This is unprecedented.

Not that this is a good enough reason to hate them as some fans do, but Bear fans want a real QB. They want the stud they have been waiting for since Sid Luckman. And when QBs show glimmers of home but don't get it done Bear fans get disappointed and take it out on their QBs. Grossman showed that glimmer early in 2006 and Cutler has been on and off since he got here.

I remember him getting a ton of flak as well. Maybe not as much as Cutler, but it seemed like after every play they'd shoot over to LT hanging out on the sidelines. After the game he was pretty well ripped to shreds by everybody.

You may know this, but that viewpoint is not limited to just Wilbon. I keep hearing debates where someone will bring up a QBs stats to show how good he is and the other person will simply retort "yeah, but how many rings does he have" or "how many games did he win last year" or something silly like that.

People view QBs like they do pitchers in baseball, somehow they are in complete control of whether or not their team wins the game. No one else plays a role in it apparently.
