I dont think people outside of the Chicago fanbase (and even some inside of it) understand what its like to go year after year with the likes of Moses Moreno or Cade McNown

Great point by someone emailing Peter King:

"I guess since all the NFL players were saying how it is no big deal to play on an injured leg, we'll have an 18-game season [in 2012]. I mean, how can NFL players use 'fear of injuries' as an excuse now?''

It's going to be interesting to hear some of these knuckleheads try to play both sides of the issue when it eventually comes up.

He's right, but Rosenbloom still manages to make me want to punch him in the face, even when he's right.

Yeah. Kind of surprising to see him take this angle though. I didn't think he would.

They must not be smokers

It's certainly disappointing to me that this is all you have to offer to a discussion. Something from how many years ago? It's been nearly 2 years since I've had a cigarette, so I know I'm not exaggerating.

You just keep clinging to that old joke, though. Someone, somewhere might giggle, which is what I'm quite certain you were after.

:good:

from my facebook: "i knew SOCCER players with blown mcl, acl, and meniscus that braced it up and played on IN HIGH SCHOOL. it's not his plant leg (not that he plants to throw a ball anyway) and he wasn't writhing in pain with ice wrapped around it on crutches, he was walking the sidelines with an affective gimp"

This is basically a summary of everything I'm hearing concerning Cutler, aka, "he didn't look hurt therefore he was not hurt".

Yeah, I just had a virus issue on my computer and was on the phone with our IT guy. During the downtime between running virus scan, he began to make small talk with the line "So who are we going to get for QB this offseason?" I asked him why he thinks we need to get a new QB, and he said "Because the one we have has no heart. If you can ride an exersise bike you can throw a damn football." Rolling my eyes, I said oh ok I think its working now, have a nice day, and hung up.

Because the entire league needs to weigh in...

Asked if he thought it was fair to question Cutler's toughness, Brees told Yahoo! Sports from Hawaii, where he will play in Sunday's Pro Bowl, "No, it's not fair unless you know exactly what it is. And I think at this point there's varying degrees of when MCL tear or sprain can be. In essence, it's the same thing. An MCL sprain means you tore your MCL to some degree.

"In some cases I know players that have torn an MCL and been out for six weeks. In some cases it's four weeks. In some cases it's two. And sometimes you're able to fight through and play. None of us know exactly what is, nobody except Jay Cutler and the Bears training staff. So it's nothing that any of us have the right to comment on because we just don't know."

After all the bashing, I think it can be nothing but a good thing when guys like Brees and Rivers say stuff like this. They have a bit of perspective on things and may shut some people up considering that, you know, they're actually NFL QBs.

Well, that story is most likely false.

Rivers was kinda backhanded I thought though. I guess the point that people don't get, or don't want to get, is that Cutler didn't make the decision to come out. People are like "they'd have to drag me off". No they wouldn't. Your coach says you sit, you sit.

And if it's not false, those high school coaches/trainers should be indicted.

I'm sick of all the people that have weighed in on Cutler, but I guess if ANYONE has the right to ask about Cutler's injury, it'd be Rivers. That said, i don't know how BAD his injury was either. But he did have surgery the week of a playoff game, played(albeit not well) and then had another surgery a day or two later.

But, in the end, it comes down to the coaching staff. If they say you're coming out, you're coming out. And that would have been the same with Rivers as well.

Oh, it's false. There's no doubt in my mind about that. I had a teammate in high school who blew out his knee over the summer and was barely able to run cross country (you know, straight forward running with no cutting on potentially uneven ground) that fall and had surgery on the knee 2 days after our last meet. There's no way in hell you could even think about playing soccer with no ACL.

Isn't the left leg for a right handed QB his plant leg?

I'm more interested as to why he's facebook friends with da bum

If I respond to the comment I'm going to get called out, as this guy has been playing hockey and soccer his entire life AFAIK. My sports injury "personal knowledge" will be called into question. Maybe I'll just quote him Drew Brees.

I believe all Rivers had done was some cartilage removed. The last time I did that, I was in a bar 2 days later and back to 100% in about 2-3 weeks.

He also played that game with basically no ACL and had ACL surgery a day or two after the game. Recovery was supposed to be at least 6 months and he was ready in 3.

I didn't remember all this, so I had to look it up, but I remembered that was something out of the ordinary from him. I can't stand him myself, but he's got to be a tough SOB at the very least.
