It'll be interesting to see how quickly they become involved in Fielder offers. They obviously have the money.

Not sure if they do--the money for Pujols had a lot to do with the "lifetime PR" benefits of Pujols. Not sure if the ownership would want to immediately turn that over to another player who doesn't provide the same type of long-term PR benefits.

Well definitely the 2nd best possibility out there besides him going to the Cubs on a shorter deal. I don't know why but whenever players go to Anaheim it's just kind of blah.

awesome

and i know some will disagree, but to me that's a horrible contract.

Horrible seems too far, but it certainly isn't good.

A tick below what ARod got, and he plays a less taxing position without DH competition. He also won't be hated by 75% of the team's fans. They will get runs at 500 and 600 HR milestones and the potential for even bigger targets. The 2nd biggest market in baseball while still being an organization with a whole lot of upside. I don't think it's that bad at all.

he also plays a way less valuable position

Who is they?

Cardinals.

They already signed Pujols's replacement before he even left. The only reason they even considered going so high was because of what Albert meant there. Fielder doesn't mean anything to them and won't soothe the fans.

RT @Jon_Heyman: #angels new tv deal is the key, insiders say. may get $150M per. had been getting only $50M.

Not attempting to cry poor for the Cubs, but I can't freaking wait until we have real TV money befitting of this organization and its following.

Well, I think this clearly gives us a a chance to take over the division rather quickly if we sign Prince. Get it done, team Theo. If we add Prince and one or two more starters, It is not a stretch for us to win next year.

Is there anything other than speculation in regard to this? I haven't heard anything about the Comcast SportsNet contract going away any time soon.

Arod hasn't played 140 games in a year since he signed the extention, so yeah, it's rough. And that was with DH already theoretically available to him for rest. Playing a less valuable position is beneficial to Pujols going forward since it's also less taxing. But the point is they are both rich organizations that can afford to overpay for greatness.

wait, does anybody remember that creepy little cards fan who used to post vids of himself raging on youtube a few years ago? the kid who went on a rant about aaron miles signing with the cubs.

i completely forgot about that kid, and now i really want to see if he's still around.

I don't know anything about the Angels team but wouldn't they just have Morales DH?

They've already got Wells, Hunter, Trout, and Bourjos for 3 OF spots.

There's no concrete plan in place, at least in public, but it's widely assumed the Cubs have a boatload of money coming toward them in the next deal.

Who said anything about soon?

As far as anything other than speculation...the Cubs have broached the subject with season ticket holders as something they eventually want to do at one of those season ticket holder meetings. That's about it.

I do know that the current deals in place were a sticking point for Ricketts when buying the team.
