wait, does anybody remember that creepy little cards fan who used to post vids of himself raging on youtube a few years ago? the kid who went on a rant about aaron miles signing with the cubs.

i completely forgot about that kid, and now i really want to see if he's still around.

Didn't somebody from here get his phone number, and call him and just play a clip of an Aramis walk off against the Cards and then he quit doing videos.

Hell. Yes.

This. I'd have been awesome it fit were us, but if the Cubs signed him to those terms I would have been sick.

Either way, the destruction of the image of Pujols Cardinals fans created in their heads and the coming fallout is and will continue to be glorious.

There's a number of people who are kinda silly about honor and legacy and all that, but it's hard for them to get worked up over 10/250 when all the talk had been anchored near 200 million thus far.

RT @Jon_Heyman: #angels new tv deal is the key, insiders say. may get $150M per. had been getting only $50M.

Not attempting to cry poor for the Cubs, but I can't freaking wait until we have real TV money befitting of this organization and its following.

Is there anything other than speculation in regard to this? I haven't heard anything about the Comcast SportsNet contract going away any time soon.

Who said anything about soon?

As far as anything other than speculation...the Cubs have broached the subject with season ticket holders as something they eventually want to do at one of those season ticket holder meetings. That's about it.

I do know that the current deals in place were a sticking point for Ricketts when buying the team.

Nobody said anything about soon. I was asking a question because I didn't know. I'd love for it to be sooner rather than later, because this Comcast deal is stupid and I'm not sure why the Cubs entered into it in the first place.

well i can understand not being upset that they didn't give him 250 million to stay, but the way they're attempting to act as if it's no big deal is pretty funny. a lot of "i'm not too upset" comments and stuff like that.

"Didn't really want him anyway." hahahahahaha

I'm in a bad enough mood about baseball to enjoy all the "What do I tell my son who worships Pujols?" comments.

Yeah, my Card fan friends are all "I can't believe he was all about the money". None of them is upset that the Cards didn't match.

I believe the WGN portion of the deal is what really sucks. And it wasn't clear at the time how successful things like YES Network would be.

If the Cards had signed him to a fair market extension (or even close) a year or two ago, this wouldn't be happening. Pujols gave the Cards 11 years of the best production most of us have ever seen for well below what he was worth and led them to 2 World Series titles and a bunch of playoff appearances. He was a charitable citizen and model teammate. He owed the team and the city of St. Louis absolutely nothing.

Cards fans painting him as a scumbag now is absolutely ridiculous.

But it's funny as hell at the same time.

I cant believe they are saying that when the Cardinals essentially had him signed to one of the most team friendly deals in baseball history. That contract probably cost Albert $50 million, which is ironically the gap between the Cards offer and LAs.

Kurjian just said that Albert has been upset with the Cards for about 2-3 years. Lots of rumblings about Albert not feeling the love from the organization and them not taking care of this sooner. The Cardinals let it go too far and now it is too late.

That's what I keep telling them. Albert had played at a discount for years. He's gotten them 2 WS titles. He'd given and given to STL. Now, it's "me time" for him. Hard to blame him. It's gonna be his last contract.

He was upset because the Cards didn't want to give him 10yrs 250-275m.

Cub trolls I'm sure will get a chuckle or two out of this today, but when they realize it will make us a better team going forward, they really shouildn't.

There's no concrete plan in place, at least in public, but it's widely assumed the Cubs have a boatload of money coming toward them in the next deal.

Right. The general thinking is that when the Cubs' current TV deals are up they're gonna get seriously paid, be it via a new deal or setting up their own network a la YES. That's one of the reasons I'm all for the Cubs dishing out for someone like Pujols (blargh) or Fielder now because we've seen how these deals are benefiting teams like the Rangers and the Angels. If THEY'RE making bank off of new TV deals then the Cubs are going to be rolling.
