Don't they usually announce the starters first and then the reserves? I had no idea this was going to happen today. Oh well 2 straight years we've had 1 All Star that probably wouldn't have been selected if there wasn't an "every team needs 1 All Star" rule.

According to his fielding statistics, Omar Infante has appeared in 67 games this year and started 47. He has 164AB and has a whopping 96 OPS+

Meanwhile his teammate Billy Wagner, who has been arguably one of the best relievers in the game this year, if not THE best, has to get voted in by the fans while this douche has a golden ticket.

HOW THE HELL DID OMAR INFANTE GET SELECTED TO THIS GAME?!?!

I think at least one of Silva or Marmol might have a chance to be added as a replacement. There's a new rule this year that a pitcher who starts the Sunday before the All-Star Game can't pitch in the game. I assume that means a replacement would be named for any such pitcher.

I thought for sure Marmol and Silva would make it. If the Cub offense didn't stink so bad Silva would have more wins.

Marmol is having a special season but just doesn't have the saves I guess which shouldn't keep him off the team.

Byrd was actually one of three players selected by his peers

thank god omar infante got a well-deserved spot

Votto: .988 OPS/.425 wOBA

Infante: .721 OPS/.320 wOBA

Wow.

I can see it now, Rivera .v. Infante for HFA in the World Series.

i hope it comes down to that, f whoever gets out of the nl, i hope they lose 4-0

Amazing how in 50 fewer PAs, Soto has very similar numbers to all star catcher brian mccann.

Isn't McCann a much better defender where as Soto is a bit below avg? Also Soto went on a big slump where he was batting .150 over an extended period. Plus he's on a terrible team.

On another note I'm tired of ridiculous All Star choices. Its time to go by the statistically best player at each position. Guys like Jason Heyward, while a good rookie, has no business being on the NL team.
