Haha.

Nobody even know WHAT the call was on the disallowed goal. It was just called off.

I'd like to see that. Couldn't get ESPN3 to work in office.

They did a post-match interview with Bradley, and that's what he said, twice.

"We were just trying to get clarification on why the goal was waved off. Nobody knows."

fwiw, online stats currently credit USA with 0 offsides for the match. I'm extremely curious to see if an explanation is given. I'm guessing they'll fall back on some ticky-tack thing off the ball.

Agreed, one of those "holding happens on every play in the NFL" type things.

If people clap at the end of a movie do you have a brain aneurysm goony?

The difference is they are applauding a good movie. Players are applauding people for applauding them, not to mention, the way in which they do it is what's most silly. Holding your hands over your head halfassedly putting them together, walking around a little more and doing it again. I think it looks silly.

These guys fly across the Atlantic, to see you play for 2 hours, and to spend 10 seconds responding it weird.

That is absurd.

Except it's something that's done in every game. It's pandering.

I actually think clapping at the end of a movie is pretty lame, myself.

I've watched almost every world cup game that's taken place during the week, and several euro games this past year. It looks silly, so does exchanging jerseys.

Yet that might have been one of the cleanest possible free kick efforts by the US. I couldn't see a single jersey tug.

I don't know if I've ever actually seen it, but I must have. It's worse when they clap after a plane lands.

Clapping in general is stupid. Making a slapping sound by banging your hands together is so barbaric. I wish they invented some sort of instrument that created some sort of buzzing noise for situations like this.

If that's the case, watch that replay a couple more times and look specifically for Bradley and Altidore in that sequence. If those aren't considered 'holding' - especially in Bradley's case - I don't know what the [expletive] is. In fact, Bradley should kinda thank the guy fouling him on the play; if not for the Slov holding onto Bradley like his life depended on it, Bradley might have slipped offsides - he was looking like he was nearly so even with the Slov all over him.

i went to a vuvuzela concert and a soccer match broke out

Has there ever been a point where matches would just go on and on until someone scored? PKs are lame but so are ties and the weird tiebreakers.

I heard they would replay the entire match if it ended in a tie back in the day. That seems insane.

Same with laughing.

Laughter - what is that? I mean, what is the point of opening your mouth and going "Ha, ha!"? What is that? "Ha, ha!"?

Official FIFA scoring is the goal was disallowed on a foul by Edu.

Hmm. :-k

Wasn't aware that scoring a, very likely, GWing goal by the US was considered a "foul" by FIFA and its rulebook. Learn something new every day I guess.

I agree with you completely, I was just predicting how it would be resolved.

The FA Cup is a single elimination tourney, where draws are replayed.

The next day or what?

Okay, I'm done moaning about the ref. They got completely horsescrewed, but that's life.

Meanwhile, the U.S. just made a stunning two-goal comeback to earn a draw and keep themselves alive in the World Cup. And I spent halftime arguing with a meatball fan who wanted to blame any U.S. failure on Donovan, then saw him score a beautiful goal. Woo.

That's even more comical. Edu didn't even do anything besides kick the ball into the net.
