There is no way Izzo would even think about going to Cleveland if LeBron is not there. And there is no way that can be guaranteed until after July 1. By then Cleveland would have found another coach because they couldn't wait that long for Izzo.

I seriously doubt Izzo will leave MSU.

He might at some point but with the team he has coming back for the upcoming season, it wouldn't be a wise choice for him to leave this season. I think he knows that too.

The New York Post reports: An "appreciably well-wired roundball entrepreneur" tells columnist Peter Vecsey that he believes LeBron James will re-up with the Cavaliers for three years. He almost certainly would not have stayed had coach Mike Brown been retained, and it was general manager Danny Ferry's support of Brown that led to his resignation.

Vecsey's source says that should James fail to win a championship in the next three years, he will leave Cleveland with a clear conscience and join pal Jay-Z's Nets team in Brooklyn.

Can't be mad if that's true. If he doesn't leave Cleveland, he never intended to anyways. Get Bosh and JJ or something.

Is it me, or is Wade being a real prick about this situation? First the whole "Chicago isn't loyal" thing, and now this:

As July 1 and the beginning of free agency inches closer, Wade says he'll start off searching for the best player to join him in Miami.

"It's going to be fit with me first," said Wade, who attended Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night. "I've made that very clear. Do I want to leave? Nope. Mmm-hmm. I want to be in Miami. That's where it starts."

Wade told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel over the weekend that he talked with Chris Bosh and Joe Johnson in Los Angeles last week.

"I don't look at it as recruiting. I'll gauge and see if guys want to be [in Miami], who wants to be with me," Wade said.

I'd love to see Rose recruiting guys just as hard.

It sounds less like recruiting and more like the bachelor with Wade giving people the opportunity to be considered to play with him.

Well, yeah, there's that part of it. :)

I'm not going to lie, but I hope both NY and Miami strike out in FA. By striking out I mean overpaying for guys like Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer because they don't want to leave FA empty handed. Especially Wade after his ill-fated "Bulls are not loyal" comments.

I saw a photo of Chris Bosh walking around Miami with a rose in his hand the other day.

At the same time, I am also nervous that Wade will snag Bosh, LeBron will go to NYK, and the Bulls will, as you correctly say, overpay for Joe freaking Johnson, and have a nice little 50 win team that won't get anywhere in the playoffs. Amare, Johnson, Boozer and David Lee are all gonna see nice paydays, but I don't think any of those four make the Bulls championship caliber. Basically, I'm really, really, really wanting us to snag LeBron or Bosh, or I'll be sadpandaland.

I think the Bulls could be a 50 win team even if they didn't sign any of those guys, drafted a good shooter, and stayed healthy. But yeah David Lee and Joe Johnson ain't putting you over the top regardless.

Much better to hold on to the cap space and hope for Melo or some other big fish becoming available through trade than give a non-star superstar money. We've already done that with Deng.

Doing what the Pistons did last offseason is basically the exact template to avoid. They felt obligated to use their cap money and ended up giving it to Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva instead of being players this year (ignore that it's Detroit). And they were still really bad, although not as bad as they should've been for drafting purposes.

Bulls have done that before. Eddie Robinson.

It was clearly a bad idea but their situation is fundamentally different from Chicago's as you hinted at. They knew they weren't going to get any of the big fish this year because everyone has cap space and none of the studs were going to choose Detroit over Chicago/NY/Miami/LA, etc. The problem was the contracts he gave to them.

Joe was trying to re-create his early 2000's success. That's tough to do with no big man and no true point. Everyone being hurt didn't help this year either.

Anyone got any opinions on the draft? We're picking 17th.

NBAdraft.net has us taking Hassan Whiteside and Drafexpress has us taking Damion James. That's weird. Whiteside is intriguing--we do need a big man and he's a legit 7 footer with insane shot blocking numbers. He'd be a nice piece to have to go up with the Dwight Howards and Bynum/Gasol/Odom combos of the world.

But we really, really need a shooter for the 95% of the games that aren't against those teams. James Anderson is the perfect fit, IMO.

You don't think NY is going to use up all its cap space this year?

i think they'll strike out on lebron and decide to say the dough for next year.

it might not be a bad move, really. Everyone's gonna spend their money this year, so there might only be a handful of teams with the cash to drop on Melo.

They'll use it on at least Bosh or Amare I would think. I suppose they would still have enough room next year though.

They've been selling their fan base on this offseason for at least 3 years...they're gonna spend.
