I should be rooting for Michigan right?

It depends what your goal is. Michigan needs this more than MSU for building a tournament resume, which will get more Big Ten teams in the tourney. MSU is the better team, and would be a better win for Illinois in the BTT.

Mizzou shot terrible today. But, a major reason they lost was some horrendous, one-sided officiating midway through the second half. Not saying it made a difference in the outcome of the game, but it definitely would have made for a closer game down the stretch. The Big XII has some of the most homer refs, but kU gets the benefit on the road. The conference is good and the officials make it so difficult to win on the road for every team except Kansas. No wonder they run away with the conference.

these guys are gonna get me believing again. [expletive] them [expletive] everybody

They've clearly shown throughout the year they can play with anyone in the country (and play down to anyone in the country...at least UIC won 2 more games after the UI win this year...). They have only been out of one game this year in the second half, and even their other worst losses were just collapses in the last two minutes rather than not having a shot.

The "not saying it made a difference in the outcome of the game" was a disclaimer in the vein of "No offense, but you are a dick".

Or, it's saying, that I don't know what the outcome of the game would have been had the officials not been absolutely horrendous for a stretch in the second half. But you keep reading into it all you want.

What's so hard to understand? Most teams in the Big XII have much better home than road records and a major reason for that is that the refs in the conference are very homerish. However, kU doesn't have to deal with the same problems. Listen, kU is better than Mizzou and they are the best team in the conference year in and year out. However, they get a lot of help in close games. When every road conference game is a tough win (because of the parity in the Big XII), but kU gets more benefit on the road than every other team, then they will likely steal extra wins along the way. Not that difficult to understand unless you want to be blind and just say, "You're just whining because my team is better."

Upon rereading, a better way to state it would have been, "Not saying it was the determing factor in Mizzou losing the game today, but the officiating at a certain stretch in the game was a major factor in the game that may have changed the outcome. Nobody could possibly know."

Oh, look, kU actually gets less fouls called against then on the road than they do at home. This is true for 3 teams in the Big XII (A&M, ISU, and Kansas). Whereas, most of the other teams have huge spikes in the percentage of personal fouls called against them on the road. I don't watch enough A&M games to make a hypothesis, and I'm sure a good chunk of ISU games are not decided by the officials.

I don't have a link for this but apparently once Indiana arrived in Champaign, Crean put them through a tough practice. Great idea Tom. It isn't like we had a game on late Thursday night, then had our guys go to class on Friday, then had to travel for an early start today. Let's put them through a full practice to top it off!

They talked about it during the game. I don't get it.

Indiana didn't win a road game all year? Give Crean an extension.

They've lost 20 in a row away from Bloomington

Last road win was in Happy Valley last season.

Oh okay, I had the sound turned down for most of the game. It just boggles my mind. Maybe he should have called up Carmody. After all our last loss to Northwestern came in Bloomington where NW only had one day off and IU had a full week off. The Wildcats sure did not seem bothered by it. Of course they have a coach who can actually coach the game of basketball and is probably smart enough to not run his team ragged in that situation.

Kemba Walker is a tremendous player, but he simply will not let anyone else win the game. He got them the lead, and then he blew it. ND goes 14-4 in the league and can win the Big East if Pitt goes down - which is unlikely, but who knows.

Illinois-Michigan in the 4-5 game.

If PSU wins, they're the 6 seed and MSU is 7th, otherwise PSU is 7 and MSU is 6.

Minny-NW in the 8-9 game, also.

Iowa 10th, Indiana 11th.

Wisconsin 3rd if Purdue beats Iowa.

Iowa tied with Purdue. Pretty much what they do at home, they battle the good teams but can't keep up in the second half. It'd be nice to get an upset win as Purdue is kind of flat today.

Apparently CBS took away the Mizzou/Kansas game in Columbia and Kansas City/Lawrence at the 6 minute mark and didn't bring it back, even after Mizzou cut the lead to 4. Some poor guys are gonna have to answer angry phone calls for hours about that one.

Mizzou did not get Kansas' A-game, and really blew their chance to get a big win. Ratliffe and English have regressed so far in just a couple weeks that it's staggering. Hopefully they can beat the 11/12 seed and seeing the ball go in the basket a few times will get them out of their shooting funk and they can win more than one game this week.

As for the officiating, it didn't really make much difference. I thought it was pretty good through the first 25 minutes or so, then the officials spent about 8 minutes shafting Mizzou, and then tried to make up for it with the last 8 minutes. I was yelling for the fans to shut up about that alley-oop because nothing remotely dirty or a foul happened, but I can understand why they were upset since Mizzou had been called for 11 fouls in 10 minutes of the second half.
