Dan Williams is having a really good Senior Bowl through the first half. As a UT fan, that makes me happy.

Also, Markeith Ambles is reportedly visiting Tennessee this weekend. Good job by Dooley and staff to convince him to consider us again, now we'll see if they can bring him in.

Don't be surprise if Ambles doesn't commit to any team on NSD. He's seems to be the type of character who would draw out his recruitment to satisfy his go.

Yeah, he's already strongly hinted he'll likely wait til after NSD to make a decision. Says he has a couple more visits to take (one to USC, I believe).

He's fantastically talented, but has been a bit of a diva.

Ambles was at USC last week. He was Kiffin's first secondary violation (Ambles is the recruit that USC picked up in a limo...)

Ambles also said tonight that whatever he feels when he wakes up Wednesday is what he's going to do.

Wow, that's interesting . . .

Kids say a lot of stupid things.

Jeffrey Whitaker, one of the top DTs, is supposed to reveal his college decision today. He will pick between Georgia (Whitaker lives in Georgia presently) and Auburn. http://blog.al.com/auburnbeat/2010/02/jeffrey_whitaker_is_on_the_clo.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Autigerwire+%28AUTigerWire%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher

the internet has ruined recruiting. I wish people would just ignore these kids until NSD. It's obnoxious

true that. these are just high school kids and all this attention just turns alot of them into divas.

Fans on the ND boards are flipping lids over a scholarship offer to some DE named Bruce Heggie who nobody else offered.

Auburn got Whitaker today. Marcus Lattimore will announce his decision tomorrow night.

I agree. that can definitely be said for that Shon Coleman kid. Even so, I'll be disappointed if he decommits and heads to Alabama.

Word from other players who were visiting Miami this weekend is that Shon is all Crimson. Unless something is made public I have to take that with a grain of salt. All I know is Coleman is down to Bama .v. Burn and it is a toss up as to who will land him.

The agony continues for the Illini?

Illinois is very much in situation similar to Colorado. Even with dramatic changes on his coaching staff, there still are lingering questions about Ron Zook's future and those questions really hurt the Illini in this year's recruiting wars. Illinois is going to finish outside of the top 60 likely and will finish with its lowest ranking in the Big Ten since 2004. Just like that season, Illinois should finish in the No. 8 spot in the conference, a hard pill to swallow for a program that hasn't had problems attracting talent in the past. Much like Colorado, Illinois' biggest problems stem from not keeping the top players at home. Illinois so far has only landed one player in the top 10 in the state and seeing blue-chip recruits like Kyle Prater, C.J. Fiedorowicz, Matt Milton and others leave the state certainly stings.

Signing Day for Mizzou should be rather quiet, and I hope it is (unless of course Keeston Terry or Curtis Carter want to switch to us now that we just had a de-commit last week)

Mizzou's class is scary good, assuming they all qualify. I'm pretty jealous.

All things considered, I'm okay with KU's class. Certainly doesn't stack up to most other Big 12 teams, but I had low expectations considering its size and the coaching change.

After losing out on Grissom, Gill acquitted himself nicely by stealing Bourbon from Stanford and nabbing McDonald from Mizzou. If we can steal Ebbele from Illinois, Gill will have done pretty well in a short amount of time.

Scary good? They're 17th (per Rivals) with no 5-stars and mostly 3-star commits

Look for McDonald to sign with Colorado before all is said and done.

In all seriousness, while Kansas' class isn't amazing, considering the late turnover they had it isn't bad. Terry is legit and McDonald is a solid get. Things definitely could have definitely been much worse.

But yeah, Mizzou's class really has me excited. I'm not sure what the eligibility situation is (I know back in early-mid December there were a couple of guys that could've been question marks, but not sure now), but with this class, plus Sheldon Richardson coming in in 2011, it could be a fun couple of years here.

I'm sure snood is mostly talking about Mizzou from a Big 12/North standpoint...fourth best in the Big 12 and best in the North.

Plus I could go through all of two or three star players over the past few years for Mizzou that have been some of the top players at their position (such as two star - Weatherspoon and Danario, three star - Daniel).

It's the best class on paper in Missouri history. It's not really a shock to see Mizzou fans pumped about it and other North Division fans a little weary.

Mizzou won back-to-back North titles with recruiting classes that didn't crack the Top 25. A couple weeks ago their class was like 13th. It's a significant improvement even if there isn't a headline player like Gabbert was(or Richardson will be).

Sorry, we're not all Penn State. For a team that KU is trying to compete with in a North division that's kind of up for grabs, 17th in the nation is very good. Especially for a program that's not a traditional power.

And dinging a team for having no 5* is pretty silly considering there are 25 total in the nation.

Right now, their class is rated better than Michigan's, tOSU's, Virginia Tech's, and Miami's. For a fan of a rival team, that's not what you like to see.

my post was mostly in the semantics of "scary". I reserve that for very few teams, that's all

your biggest rival has the best class they've ever had and you don't think it would be scary? I doubt Mizzou's class is scary for you, personally, but I don't think snood much cares.

It's not Florida's class (which is scary by any definition), but it makes perfect sense from a KU fan's perspective.

I suppose you're right. The truth of the matter is that I've seen too many Top 10 classes come through Penn State and the team never seems to deliver on that potential. I'm jaded

Our team of top 10 classes just went 6-6 while yours went 11-2, I'd kill right now to not deliver like that. :good:

so ummm....Vandy has a better recruiting class than Arkansas.

Well, 24 commits to 20.

To me, team rankings are incredibly useless. When you're trying to combine a bunch of kids who are ranked based on a faulty star system using an even worse team scoring system, you get a bunch of crappy numbers that don't mean anything. There's no decent way to compare recruiting classes so I don't even bother trying. It's hard enough trying to compare recruiting classes within the same program that you're quite familiar with.
