As the winter meetings go into their second day, there still seems to be a mentality among GMs to wait and see as far as the trade market goes. Things might loosen up today. For Cubs fans, the possibility of moving Milton Bradley might become a reality within the next 24 hours. Let's go.

Haven't we been seeing time-frames of 24-72 hours til the deal is done(talking in general) since the World Series?

I don't think so. I feel like every report has more or less said nothing is on the horizon, a couple teams have expressed interest and Hendry is confident it will happen sometime.

There has been a couple times where a 24-72 hr thing has been said.

Maybe by random buffoons but they've been shot down by beat reporters. And I definitley don't remember any 24-72 hour claims a month ago.

I remember "leads" by Wittenmeyer, Kaplan and the like saying things like "the Cubs are hopeful to get something done in the next 72 hours" or "we should see things moving in the next 24-48 hours". So yeah, buffoons is pretty accurate.

I wasn't talking about actual releases from the Cubs.

And yes, most have been shot down later that same day.

I wasn't talking about releases from the Cubs either, obviously that would never happen. I'm just talking in general, I haven't really seen any "pending" stories this year, in comparison to most rumors.

Put me in the group that feels that if Bradley doesn't get dealt at the meetings, then this is going to take a very long time to get done.......Hendry has worked on this nonstop since the season ended supposedly and originally we were thinking that that this would be done BEFORE the meetings started. Now, the longer it goes, the more it's starting to look like Sosa to me anyway.......And the fact that this very well could handcuff us from any other moves, makes it even worse.

As if any trade involving Bradley has us on the edge of our seats eager with excited anticipation and hope for the future.

Too bad the surprise team isn't the Diamondbacks. We'd have a shot at Justin Upton.

Would surprise team = the Royals for Meche? Would Wittenmeyer or whoever originally referred to it as a surprise team refer to the Royals as such?

If we get 2007-08 Meche, yes. If we get 2009 Meche, no thanks.

I would think they'd qualify, yeah.

Nah Royals GM came out today and said Bradley isn't a fit at this time. Bruce Levine reported a simliar thing, that the Cubs could be getting close and were talking to new teams. But he didn't know if it was AL or NL. This is what Levine said

The Chicago Cubs may be on the verge of cutting a deal that would move Milton Bradley as soon as Tuesday. According to sources, others teams besides the usual suspects (Tampa bay Rays, New York Mets, Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels) have been brought into the Bradley discussions over the past 24 hours. Trading Bradley is a multi-faceted situation. Any team that is going to trade for him is going to want to talk to Bradley and his agent about the acceptability of a new home for the veteran outfielder

Ha way to go out on a limb! Hendry only deals with Oak and Baltimore in the AL so its got to be 1 of these 2 teams. :D

Maybe Bradley and cash for Mark Ellis. I believe Ellis is owed a simliar amount as Luis Castillo.

This just came in

aysonst:

Source familiar with Milton Bradley talks says no change from what we reported last night: New teams are in on Milton. But nothing is close

Jeff Baker>Mark Ellis. Theres really no reason Jim Hendry should have a job at this point.

Not sure how you'd figure that Baker is better than Ellis.
