The only real question I want answered is how much of the contract are the Cubs paying. We all know they won't be getting anything of value for him.

Not that it matters at this point, because me saying Ellis is just me thinking off the top of my head by looking at some contracts on the A's. But Ellis is a guy who could be helped out by moving out of the A's ballpark. Over the last three years he hit 286/347/788 on the road.

My guess is Seattle.

The Mariners were last in the American League in OBP last season.

He could play left field for them.

I thought I read something that said Jason Bay wants to go there really, really bad.

The answer to that question when talking about Hendry, is always YES!

Silva and Podsednik. Sounds like Hendry is really on top of his game.

Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports said possibly Blue Jays or Mariners. I guess Blue Jays would be something for Lyle Overbay and Mariners of course would be Carlos Silva. But I would assume that Hendry could have always did Bradley for Silva.

5:12pm: Wittenmyer reports that the deal is "three quarters done." Three teams are involved, but the Rangers and Rays aren't among them.

WTF does 3/4 done mean?

Medium well :D)

On a side note, if we wind up with freaking Silva out of this crap, I hope Hendry is fired within the hour.

Well the fact that Gorden is now saying it's a three team deal makes me less scared about Carlos Silva. If we did get Silva does anybody think there's a chance he could get back to pitching to a Jason Marquis like level moving back to the NL?

carlos silva eh?

mmm...let me look up on cots...

meh...about equal

we could use the pitching depth, and if we are competitive up till the deadline next season, we can trade for another starter if need be

whatever

Generally, you'd think a pitcher would get better going from Minnesota to Seattle, given the home parks. Silva went to crap when he got to Seattle, not that he was great before, so who knows.

I'd rather not take the chance though.

Who is a good baseball player. Working with what you got is not turning a good baseball player into a bad one.

You have to be a special kind of bad to pitch in Safeco, in front of that defense, and put up the numbers Silva did. If the Cubs traded for him, the best course of action would be to immediately release him.

right, he is a good baseball player with significant issues and injury issues

i don't know how you guys can be surprised that the bradley deal coming soon, whatever it may be, is probably going to turn out to be ugly

how?
