I would like to see the Titans dismiss Fisher simply because I would love to see him replace Wade in Dallas next year.

Not a fan of the current coaching free agent class? Holmgren, Cowher, Shanahan, Gruden...I feel like I'm missing someone.

This might be bias talking, but I'd take Fisher over all those coaches with the possible exception of Cowher. Shanahan might be a better coach, but he'll likely demand too much front office power.

All are excellent coaches, though.

I really don't think he's interested in coaching again. Not sure about Cowher either.

The Cutler-Orton stuff is really comical, and I knew it would come up if Orton started out well. I know Orton has been good so far, but it's more a product of the offensive system he's in. He isn't asked to throw it downfield more than once or twice a game. He threw 50 times in the New England game and only 6 or 7 were more than 10 yards downfield. His offensive allows him to read a book before he needs to make the throw. His run game has been good and he has two explosive receivers and a solid tight end. His defense also happens to be dominating the opponent. As Spongeworthy said, teams will make adjustments and his numbers will come back to the norm eventually. I'll still take my chances with Cutler as my QB over Orton any day of the week.

I agree 100%, Cutler and it's not even close, Orton success is due to those many other factors previously mentioned. I have noticed he's making some fantastic throws, threading the needle, just fractions from being intercepted. I don't know if his accuracy has improved that much or he's been a little lucky.

It's not that I don't like those guys. I think any of those could be good choices. I don't think Cowher would be in the mix though.

I'd probably still take Fisher over all of them.

But adding Fisher to a group of Shanahan, Holmgren, and Gruden makes the chance Jerry screws it up a lot less.

I think Cowher would take the Carolina job, but not sure about any other. I really don't think Dungy is interested in coaching again...at least not any time soon.

I do agree.

I don't think Orton's a bad QB though. He can play. I really doubt he'll remain anywhere near the top of the league, but it's not like he's Moses Moreno. He's a tall QB with a decent arm who has shown the ability to limit his mistakes. It's a pretty good fit for the Broncs.

Cutler's just a much more skilled player, IMO. But he's going to have to fight Turner's schemes, and what I consider to be some overall bad coaching on the offensive side of the ball, to succeed.

Cowher wants to stay close to home, I think, which really would limit his options. Of the jobs that may open soon, Carolina would be by far at the top of his list, but Nashville might be close enough for him to listen to an offer. He won't go just anywhere, though, I don't think.

Don't expect the Carolina job to open up unless we really free-fall. The owner likes Fox and doesn't like turnover.

Orton has time to cook steaks back there and they have a good receiver group and scheme. Teams will adjust and find ways to pressure him or make him beat you down the field. The Chargers don't have the personnel for it. He'll come back down to Earth. He's doing a great job now though.

God I wish the Bears had Ryan Clady. He flat out embarrassed Merriman tonight.

Man, I so desperately hoped he'd fall to the Bears or they'd trade up for him.

Yep...I'm on board this bandwagon. Clady is a beast.

Hasn't Merriman been an embarrasment for a while now? Not that Clady wouldn't be a nice improvement.

New QB would make Fox look like a much better coach, I think.

Yeah, my thoughts on Clady are independent of Merriman's performance last night. Clady has done well against other defenses too.

I'd agree with that.

I'm not going to pretend like I've seen more than 3 or 4 denver games in the past 2 years or that i know anything about grading OL talent, but I dont think Ive read one bad word about Clady since he entered the league.

I would go with he has improved. Last year was his first season starting since being a rookie. He has never had a fully year of starting without having to worry about being pulled. His confidence is up and so his play. He also has improved his accuracy each year and with an improvement of receivers added to that you get a QB who will be playing a lot better than previously.

I seem to remember that the story was that he wanted to stay at home to be with his family while his daughter was in high school. She graduated last spring, though..

Interesting. I didn't know she had graduated.

He may be interested in branching out a bit, then. I still think he'll limit his options to the job of his choice, though, instead of any offer that comes his way.

Ah yes, the 76 Bucs. Ok, Bud should have said nearly unheard of. Would that make you nitpickers feel better?

Psh, but how does that make the 1982 Colts, the 1960 Cowboys, the 1942 Lions, the 1943 Cardinals, or the 1944 Carpets feel? :)

The 1982 Colts and the 1960 Cowboys weren't truly winless, since they both had one tie, which counts as 1/2 win in the standings, and therefore they didn't have .000 winning percentages.

The Cardinals/Carpets (officially Card-Pitts) deserve special dishonor for going winless two seasons in a row, even with two franchises combined in 1944.

People who doubt Orton really need to see his TD throw to Tony Scheffler.

Don't need to. I already saw his throw last year to "beat" Atlanta.
