I don't want this to turn into another thread where people attack each other and call them stupid or even debate whether or not Milton is pathetic or a great asset to the team. Just post what you actually expected him to do this season when Hendry signed him.

.300 BA

.900 OPS

35 HR's

120 RBI

I was expecting very similar to the numbers Jacque Jones put up his first year as a Cub, which was .285/.334/.499 w/ 27 HR and 81 RBI. Hopefully a higher RBI total, because getting on base wasnt exactly the 2006 Cubs thing and higher OBP because Bradley can take some walks. Unfortunately, weve gotten more like his 2nd year.

HAHA

I was expecting

.335 BA

1.112 OPS

57 HR

148 RBI

in 158 games played.

and an unanimous vote for NL MVP, and GG in RF.

But seriously I was expecting

.285-.290 BA

.390+OBP

.860-.900 OPS

18-24 HR

75-85 RBI

and I was actually expecting him to miss more time to injuries

.300+ AVG

.375+ OBP

25-30 HR's

100+ RBI

With a lineup of A-Ram, Lee, Sori and Soto around him I figured he would get more pitches that he could hit out of the park. Then again I remember reading a story in 2005 where Lee said after his first offseason he realized he could pull the ball to a certain spot in Wrigley and hit home runs much easier. That was what lead to his power surge according to him. Maybe Bradley will figure something out during the offseason. Then again with what he is saying he very well not be coming back.

For those in the other thread who think Bradley has performed well, you might want to look at Adam Dunn who just hit his 34th HR to go with a .285 BA and 90 RBI...that's production. You don't pay a guy $10M to simply have a good OBP and nothing else.

My only hope is that with this latest garbage that the Cubs will admit their mistake and move on from this trainwreck.

Why did so many of you expect Bradley to hit 25 or more HRs in a season when he's had a poor track record of staying healthy and when the most HRs he ever hit in a season was 22?

Cause he makes 10M dollars.

It amazes me how many people were expecting over 25 home runs from a guy who only once in his career has hit over 20. You can make the argument that his 162-game average over the past four seasons is 28, but he's also averaged less than 100 games per season during that span. For him to reach 20 homers would have been a good start. However, 25 is wishful thinking, to put it mildly. His extra base hit percentage is low (6.3% this season, compared to 9.2% over the past four years), but that's not just homers. He could really help his cause with a few more doubles.

I don't understand why you'd try to forecast HR or RBI. As long as the actual production is there ratio-wise, those numbers aren't that important(unless it's an extreme case where he's got like 2 HR thru August, RBI still don't matter).

Dunn is also having one of the single most atrocious defensive seasons I've ever borne witness to. The difference between him and Bradley is approaching 30 runs on defense alone... and that's with Milton just playing average defense in RF.
