Why has Milton Bradley been a dissapointment? I can't wait to hear this.

because he hasn't hit

you can hit for poor average and still be a productive hitter. you can have low rbi totals and still be a productive hitter.

end yourself

Oh, like I said. Carry on there, Dex.

except you used rbi's and batting average to show that he hasn't hit, and those don't show that he hasn't hit

it would have been perfectly acceptable if you had just used his slugging percentage

I didn't feel the need to post all of his sorry ass stats. If you have watched the Cubs all year, you aleady know.

the rest of his stats? you mean the stats that actually mean something and show that he hasnt been very good?

we do know, and everybody is agreeing that he has been a disappointment. i don't see how you're not getting this

I'm pissed because Bradley was signed to be a triples guy, and he has 1 triple.

Great signing Jimbo!!! Can't wait to see another 1 triple season out of this piece of [expletive] for 2 more years.

(I said piece of [expletive] cause i was afraid the word filter would mess up n*****

I recently learned that the mods can read the words anyways. Tread carefully.

I'm having a tough time determining if you're really an annoyingly repetitive, flame-baiting junk poster, or just being facetious. Can you help clarify?

So would a batter who hits .400 but never walks or gets extra bases hits be a complete failure? I guess so since AVG means nothing and OPS means everything, right?

look at what you posted and think real hard and try to see what's wrong with it

nobody said average means nothing. it means something because it brings other numbers up. also nobody said anything close to what you said about ops

btw, that hitter would still have an .800 ops

To be fair, the hits are worth marginally more than the walks when you look at it in extremes like this. This hypothetical player would be a marginal upgrade over Bradley this year.

That said, if he's hitting .400 with no patience or power, Bradley would be the better bet of the two for next season.

In terms of numbers, I expected better than he's doing. What I didn't expect is for him to accuse me, as a Cubs fan, of racism. He waited until Cub fans are at their lowest point of the season, after a 2 week stretch that put them out of contention in a season full of hope, to shoot his pathetic mouth off about the fans and teammates.

He can't get out of town fast enough for me.

Actually BA is the best way to tell if someone has gotten hits. Now if you want to know whether he has gotten extra base hits or overall been a productive offensively player you would want to use other statistics.

batter A hits .300, but every hit is a single

batter B hits .250, but every hit is a home run

who is a better hitter?

I expected him to be our best hitter. He's had a dissappointing season and is one of the reasons we're sitting a seventy-billion games out of first place but the honest truth is he's just a small part of the problem this season. I expected him to hit around .300 with 20 home runs, a lot of doubles and walks. If I would have told you that among qualifiers Kosuke Fukudome would have been the second best offensive centerfielder, Derrek Lee would have an OPS over .900, all four of our top starting pitchers would make twenty-five starts and our other SP would arguably be the ROY, how many games would you have projected us to win?
