  1. I'm sure we all remember this quote from last September: Hmm, maybe the problem will just fix himself.
  2. This isn't a big deal, but ever since the hack and reboot I've noticed that the "First unread post" function is broken on any threads less than a page long (at least, I think that's the circumstance). When I click on it, there's clearly a server request sent, but then the thread switches over to already-read mode and stays at the top of the page. Seems to work fine in longer threads, though.
  3. Yeah, I took the tour last May and remember the tiny weight room that used to be where the lux-o lounge is now. Big improvement. Two amusing bits about the clubhouse ... 1) There used to be (still is?) a net attached to the ceiling right outside the door to the lounge area. The players would drop the net, lower a plywood board to cover up a flat-screen mounted on the wall, and actually take cuts right in the middle of the clubhouse. And ... 2) all of the doors between the clubhouse and the dugout are battered, dented, and bruised from what are obviously kicks and punches made by players. For anyone who hasn't taken the Wrigley Field tour, I highly recommend it. Best $25 I've spent. It's not everyday that one gets to check out the inner workings of a 100-year old baseball mecca, and who knows how long it'll be around.
  4. Two things that I can really see management doing with a new "Jumbotron" scoreboard would be: 1. A close-up video feed of the 7th inning stretch singer 2. Karaoke lyrics to "Go Cubs Go" (and "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", too, probably) Both of these feed directly into aspects of Wrigley that I personally don't enjoy, so I say nix the thought and stick with the old school board. Don't fix what ain't broken.
  5. You missed my posts because I only throw stuff up on here a few times a month, if that. I prefer to lurk and read daily ... better to say nothing and be thought a fool than post something and prove it, no? Jody, Jody Davis was comparing NSBB's activity with activity on other Cubs boards, which are (apparently, per JR) flourishing. I'm not sure why the team's performance would push posters towards non-NSBB sites, but the record and the prognosis certainly isn't helping. I have several friends and relatives who are more caught up in the Blackhawks right now and some even refuse to talk Cubs with me until the NHL finals are over.
  6. Why is there such a decline in interest here, but not other sites? Where did everyone go?This might catch me some flak, but honesty reigns: NSBB can be a very polarizing message board at times. There are, without a shadow of a doubt, many extremely intelligent, humorous and well-spoken people that post on NSBB. There's also a fair amount of elitism and a subtle bullying streak aimed towards specific members and people who aren't as well-versed in "advanced" baseball. Not saying that NSBB is a bad place - quite the contrary. It's just flawed like people in general and everything else on earth. And of course I can't say for certain that people who used to post here regularly did leave due to the above ... but I can say that if I were to leave, it would be a factor. Witnessing the alternatives first-hand, NSBB is the best Cubs board I've found.
  7. I'm wondering if the hawkers outside Wrigley are selling any "Castro-ate the Cardinals" T-shirts or similar. Only a matter of time.
  8. Maybe the Cardinals and Royals will follow suit and battle for a Golden Jug of Moonshine or something. Or a gold record of Larry the Cable Guy's comedy album? A platinum trailer hitch ...
  9. Hope he hits some ground balls ... they're more democratic.
  10. Here's the 2008 thread on this topic ... I'm still personally against the idea, but w/e. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=48909
  11. I can't see Joe Mauer's name without thinking about Mark Prior, and what could have been if those two 2001 picks were flipped. :banghead:
  12. The thread title is a bit tactless. Whether you agree with him or not, Beckert's entitled to his opinion without having his sanity questioned. From a purely superstitious standpoint, it's a far cry from some of the rituals I've seen expressed here. I take his comments as saying that the Cubs need to shake things up, since 63 years of relative consistency haven't produced much. I also sense that he's being tongue-in-cheek, what with the fishing reference and the fact that he lives nearby.
  13. It works for me and I use /bridge. It's also dependent upon the template being used. But I haven't been able to figure out the difference despite a few attempts at it. I'll give it another try when I have some time. i'm strongly devoted to subsilver2, so make it work! I'm using subsilver2, have the site bookmarked as "/forum", and the search works fine. Why are you still using the "/bridge" URL? Have you tried using "/forum"?
