I'm sure Perry did too but he must either not understand or not listen

Or the changes just aren't working.

Sure doesn't look like he has changed anything in his approach or his mechanics. He still has no plate discipline and tries to pull every single pitch no matter how far outside.

I think its one of those cases where a guy has had some monster numbers in the past and just figures it will turn around eventually. I think a lot of guys convince themselves that if they change anything significant they may never get out of the funk, and then use a small hot streak to convince themselves they don't need to change anything.

Really glad to see the Cardinals are coasting on that granny. If that's all they get tonight and win I'll be angry.

What'd you expect with the great Joel Pineiro on the mound?

I'm complaining about how they actually for once aren't doing anything offensively, besides cashing in on the mistakes of one ineffective inning.

Now if Smoltz pitches a good game on Sunday, then it is obviously not meant to be and we might as well throw in the towel.

They're playing the Padres. Contrary to popular belief, the Padres can be beaten at Petco.

I think this every game.

But Len and Bob are such a great listen. Very comfortable with each other, knowledgeable, funny and obviously passionate.

I think their comfort level with each other is a huge factor. Len is very knowledgeable about the game, Bob isn't afraid to call it like he sees it (even if the way he sees it isn't always right), but without the comfort level they wouldn't be nearly as good as they are.

Honestly, was anyone offering even close to 8/136 for that guy? Why did we give him so much money?

Um..... because Hendry is an idiot?

Basically did the same thing with Milton too.

Cubs actually were not the highest bidder for Kosuke, he took less money to play here

Hendry was willing to go 1 extra year for each one..maybe 2 extra for Soriano.

I remember teams willing to give 6/105-110 (and maybe 7/115) to Soriano before the Cubs offered the huge deal. That's why Soriano's agent told them that it would take 8 years to get them to sign. I doubt any other team would have gone that high for him, but it wasn't a completely insane offer either as far as what it would take to land him(remember, Soriano was considered a better free agent than Carlos Lee who got 6/100). It was an insane offer for his possible production though.

With Bradley, Tampa Bay was willing to go 2/20 and possibly give a 3rd year to Bradley but Bradley didn't want to go anywhere but Chicago if he could. So finally TB gave up and signed Burrell instead.
