So if Terry Boers' sources are correct, how much longer before Lou quits?

Do tell. I mean, I fully expect Lou to run and hide after this season, but sooner???

It was a lot of speculation, but the discussion was that Lou is very frustrated and could possibly step down as soon as the Cubs are mathematically eliminated. He said it is pretty much a foregone conclusion that he won't be back next year.

Well then...who replaces him? Will they make a splash like they have the last 3 managers, or will they go in house and hire someone like Trammel?

I really can't see Lou quitting mid-season, but if he did then I'm sure Trammel would finish off the year. After this year, I have no idea.

Question to all the "that's the season" folk. What makes this game any different than either SD game or any other terrible game we've played this year?

7 games back. This team isn't capable of erasing that type of lead.

But we were capable of coming back from 6?

I think people were praying to somehow pickup a game or two this weekend. 4 games back with games in hand and three against STL isn't so bad. Tonight was an important night because the Dodgers have not been playing well and many felt this is one of the games we had the pitching advantage.

Well yeah, but the pitching advantage is erased when your guy only goes 5, in order to get Aaron Miles ABs.

From all indications, Ryno WILL BE the next Cubs manager.

Where are you getting this? What are the "indications"? Not saying I don't believe you, but haven't heard anything about that at all.

With new ownership and the Cubs underperforming this year, Jim Hendry would have to be on the hot seat. I can't imagine many people would want to come here if Hendry's job is on the line.

Anytime a statment starts out with "if Terry Boers' sources are correct" be sure to take it with a grain of salt.

That may be the case with Hendry in charge, but I seriously doubt that a new owner will come in and allow Hendry to have full control over another managerial search, even if he does survive the chopping block.

I hope some of you call into the postgame show with the absolutely brutal decisions this game. I have little faith in casual Cub fans making it known just how poor Lou's decisionmaking is and just how much Miles sucks.

I'm am more angry about that than anything else from tonight's game.

Media speculation and he's a Cubs legend who has worked his way through the minors to get his shot. He was on with Waddle and Silvy today and he basically said he's ready for a chance to become a big league manager. Lou's gone and the naming of Ryno as manager will create quite a buzz with the fans. The Cubs will need that going into 2010 after this wreck of a season.

Ahahahaha did anyone else see Lou during Brenly's mini-rant about Miles getting the PH at-bat? It was almost like Lou heard what Brenly was saying and just put his hand up in disgust.

Just trying to find something humorous from this game, I guess.

Kasper can shut the hell up about Manny hustling/not hustling. I'd love to have him on this team instead of the joke we have at that position.

More nice range by Theriot.

New York to San Fransisco

An intercity disco

The wheels of steel are turning

And traffic lights are burning

So if you like to party

Or, you know, hiring a good manager that actually gets these guys to play fundamentally sound baseball and win a few games. Thats a way to create a buzz with the fans too...

I didn't hear it obviously, but if Ryno was really pushing for the job as the Cubs season goes down the drain that is not very classy at all.

Wrigley is going to be unbearable for Lou, Milton, Soriano, Gregg, and Miles in September. If they thought the booing was bad during the summer, they have no idea what they are in for with this team all but done and having the 3rd highest payroll in the majors.

It's going to get ugly.
