I'm amazed that people criticize Hendry for this deal without knowing the players involved. How about waiting to see who gets sent to the Pirates before we start the bashing.

They arent awful. Gorzelanny has been good in 2007 and 2009, just horrible in 2008. Grabow has pretty good three year splits against LHB and is going to be Type A

 

Him being Type A is a BAD thing. Type B would be better.

 

Grabow will be eligible for $2.3 million in arbitration. He would take that.

 

Him being Type A would be a bad thing because many teams probably wouldn't be willing to part with a high draft pick in an effort to sign him.

I have a feeling this deal has to do with Lilly's injury. Maybe they know it's worse than they thought and now they want to put Marshall back in the rotation and have Grabow be our LOOGY.

 

How will he be a loogy though when he's better against righties? We acquired the wrong left-handed reliever.

The last 3 years hes held leftys to a 652 OPS against, thats better than mediocre

I kinda of doubt that. When LaRoche found out he was traded he had to immediately left the dugout. So if Fox was dealt he would have been sub in for by Jeff Baker and he would have left already. I think it's a good bet that Fox won't be dealt.
