No but Fontenot sortof can. So you got Ray Ray at 2b and fontenot at 3b. Font is better than any FAS 3b available and Ray is still a pretty good 2b and better than Miles/Scales.

That might not be a bad idea. Basically, you have a Font/Freel platoon at 3rd and Ray at 2nd. Ray isnt going to be Aram, but he'll be better than Font/Freel/Miles/Scales.

Is a blockbuster built around Marshall, Vitters, and a whole mess of other stuff for Peavy and Kouzmanoff a possibility?

Ownership

crap. I forgot that dildos still fishing around in his couch for a few extra million.

You people really think the Marlins are gonna trade Cantu?

If we offer up Vitters and/or Colvin, probably.

Thats like saying if we offer up a brand new BMW and/or a half eaten Big Mac

Seriously though, I wouldnt trade Vitters for a rent player, but he is arb eligible, and the Marlins might be inclined to trade him before the time comes.

I think Colvin can become a good outfielder in time. Though I agree, there's a big dropoff between Vitters and Colvin.

And I think the Marlins would be willing to trade Cantu, but given that he's tearing the cover off the ball and they're winning a few games, he won't come cheap.

cantu isn't really a third baseman, although i suppose he's passable there.

He can hit the ball well and we're desperate. That's enough for me - if he doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

*cough cough* JAKE FOX

Ok, he can play a little defense too.

When it comes to the Marlins, nothing off limits for the right prospects. Theyd probably go for some combination of:

Ascanio/Stevens/Gaub/Archer/Tony Thomas/Colvin/Mitch Atkins/Wellington Castillo/Caridad

They'll never go for the late 20's prospects like Jake Fox and Kevin Hart.

Remember, we did get Juan Pierre for what seemed like relatively cheap at the time, especially considering a lot of teams were shoing a lot of interest in him.

It didn't seem relatively cheap at the time. I wasn't real high on Mitre, but was very high on Pinto and Nolasco.

I'm afraid they'll want a similar type package (or more) for Cantu and it'd be hard for us to deliver that.

Of course it's a dislocated shoulder. And of COURSE it's ARam. Who else would it be?

God, why do you hate us?

I was at the game. At first it looked like he went headfirst into the bag, and I thought that's what he did.

This is all Ryan Braun's fault.

Kevin Hart, Jose Ascanio, and Jeff Stevens would be a similar package to that. Its giving up a lot, but if its necessary its necessary.

Anyway, unless Ramirez is expected to miss the season, I dont expect them to go aftr Cantu at a price like that. One of the 3 Orioles or Garrett Atkins would be a lot cheaper. We could probably get one of them for Aaron Heilman and Kevin Hart or something similar. Maybe the O's would take Jake Fox and Kevin Hart.

and another thing, Ankiel goes head first into the wall and full speed and misses a few games, we have a guy that just falls on his arm and is gone for 6-8 weeks

why are we even talking about trades, i dont think Hendry is capable of making any good decisions right now

The thing about Hendry is even if he ends up grossly over pying, he'll get his guy if needed

Ankiel was actually DLd today, or maybe it was yesterday.

Come to think of it, this hasnt been a Ramirez friendly week.

Aramis dislocates his shoulder

Manny gets busted for roids

Alexei loses his starting job

Pedro still doesnt have a job

Hanleys wrist is probably still sore.

Yeah, too bad Aramis is on the 8 week DL.

What are you talking about, obviously he will go on the 15 day DL because 60 would be too much esp if he heals faster. That doesnt mean he would be ready at the end of the 15 unlike Ankiel who wouldnt be ready to go for the next few games. Hell it could very well be longer if there is more damage in the shoulder that the Xrays pick up.

Which is why we need to make a trade, and whenever Aram is ready to come back they can figure out the next roster move from there.

I'd be shocked if Kevin Hart or Jose Ascanio are as highly rated as Mitre or Nolasco (especially Nolasco). I don't think Stevens is as high as Pinto was either.

It's not the best way to judge them, but Nolasco and Pinto were both top 10 prospects in a very strong Cubs system. Hart is the only one of those three in the top 10 of a very weak Cubs system.

Ramirez, who hurt himself after his diving backhanded stop of a hard grounder by Braun in the third, said he’ll return to Chicago for tests on Saturday.

“I felt a pop. I’ve done it before,” said Ramirez, who hurt the same shoulder in 2000 in Pittsburgh and missed six weeks. “It’s been nine years since I’ve been playing, it’s just one of those things.”

Ugh, as soon as I saw that happen I got a knot in my stomach.

This is going to suck.

it reminds me a lot of 2006 after Lee got hurt, of course the team is a lot better than that one was but

Losing Aramis is a big blow. But quite honestly, with or without Aramis, if they cannot find anyone other than Marmol to get people out late in games it will not matter who plays 3B.

Even when he's good, Gooz is still giving up runs. Patton has the stuff, but appears ill at ease on the mound. This isn't the time to worry about weather or not Colorado will want him back. If Lou's not going to use him, talented or not, he needs to go. If they're that much into projects, give Stevens a look. Cotts is unreliable for late innings even as a loog. Fox? Well, I suppose it wouldn't be a season without Fox making useless appearances. Just wish it was in a Pirates uniform.

Forget Aramis and target a couple of relievers or shake things up if Wells is pitching adequately by the time Z returns and move Marshall to the pen (he gets people out in any role) and keep Wells starting.

Something needs to be done. That's the biggest hole on the team, not Aramis. Bradley and Lee will eventually hit close to their averages. Soto and Font should improve from where they are at. The offense should be decent even without Aramis, but who cares if leads can not be protected.

Yeah that's exactly what it reminded me of. I actually thought it was his wrist because that was the first thing he grabbed.
