I think timing is a terrible reason to not call a foul correctly....Remember when micheal jordan rapped hershey hawkins with 1 sec left while hawkins was about to make a game winning lay up in a playoff game, terrible

Just because the guy was black doesn't mean you get to call him Hershey.

Plus his name is Hersey. Know your Bradley legends, son.

OOPs...I am not a bb guy. I remember watching that game with some friends of mine who were Bulls fans. I said wow how is that not a foul. Their response was they are not going to call a foul there that would change the outcome of a game..blah blah blah. My response was, but its a foul.

Anyway I think it was terrible that that call wasnt flagrant last night. Funny that the NHL has gone away from this not calling penalties when the "timing" isnt right, but the NBA seems to be embracing it.

So if that foul had been called right, we would've even been able to pick our own free throw shooter. Sickening.

ESPN Radio 1000 said this morning that the Celtics would have been able to pick the FT shooter, not the Bulls.

If it was a flagrant, the Bulls would have got to pick.

Only if Brad was unable to shoot, which he was.

Section IV--Flagrant Foul

a. If contact committed against a player, with or without the ball, is interpreted to be unnecessary, a flagrant foul--penalty (1) will be assessed. A personal foul is charged to the offender and a team foul is charged to the team.

PENALTY: (1) Two free throws shall be attempted and the ball awarded to the offended team on either side of the court at the free throw line extended. (2) If the offended player is injured and unable to attempt his free throws, the opposing coach will select any player from the bench to attempt the free throws.

So basically, Brad would've gotten his two and then we would have gotten the ball back. Who knows if he would have made the first with decreased pressure.

He was injured to the point that he needed stitches in his mouth and he got hit in the head. I'm sure the case could've been made that he wasn't unable to shoot.

I can't believe the rule is that the opposing coach gets to pick the player to shoot the free throws. It was his own player that committed an unnecessary foul that could have resulted in Miller not being able to shoot. The NBA should change that. They are trying to make it so that a bad free throw shooter isn't faking his injury, but if the foul that caused the injury is flagrant, it would make sense that the injury is real.

Even Bill Simmons thinks Rondo should be suspended for his foul:

Q: Should Rajon Rondo be suspending for Game 6 for raking Miller across the face?

A: Yes. Because he admitted afterward that it was kinda, sorta intentional. But here's why the league WON'T suspend him: The NBA would be admitting the officials blew that call. So, they'll fine Rondo and admonish him in a statement, and that will be that. Gotta keep the illusion going that NBA referees don't suck!

I really hope Brad Miller levels Rondo in Game 6 and dare the NBA to "suspend" him. I think Rondo is owed a hard arse fouls.

To sum up the last 4 pages:

The Bulls should never have allowed the game to get to the situation that it got to.

That doesn't mean the refs were any less wrong for not calling a flagrant-1 on Rajon Rondo.

Ben Gordon celebrating a series-saving shot in Game 4 and KG jumping into BG's face after Game 5 when he's accomplished absolutely nothing this series besides proving himself a giant douche for a whole city's worth of fans are on the same level.

Make that plural and I'd agree with you completely

Good, now we're on the same page. Either send Brad Miller (you know he's itching to deliever a message) or send out Aaron Gray or Linton Johnson to deliever the message that the Bulls won't be intimadated nor walked all over.

By the rules today, that was a flagrant foul. But, it really, really shouldn't be. Rondo was going for the foul and it didn't look like he tried to hurt him in any way. It was a good foul that happened to be a bit too hard. if his had had landed 2 inches higher or lower and not made him bleed, no one would care.

You can foul Miller without going for the face, and Rondo went for the face.

Rondo couldn't have. The face/head were pretty much the only place he could reach.

Was Rondo even the one that made Miller bleed/lose his tooth, or was it his goofy ass falling face first into Pierce's elbow?

Falling into the elbow leading Pierce you mean?

He wasn't leading with his elbow. Nobody jumps with their arms flat at their sides.

Being the Devil's Advocate - What if the tables were turned? Bulls up, 2+ seconds on the clock, etc., do the Bulls get called for a flagrant foul?

Of course, especially if Miller fouls Rondo in a similar fashion.

The only question would be if Miller is ejected or not.

A more realistic analogy is Derrick Rose hitting Big Baby, and there is no way a flagrant gets called in that scenario.

Of course, we'll never know and I'd like to believe that's true but, I'm not certain a flagrant foul isn't called. And we all know Big Baby would have fallen to ground unconscious for added effect.

If the Bulls don't commit a hard foul on Rondo tonight I'm throwing my remote at the TV. Also can we get some "RONDO SUCKS" chants tonight?
