Look, there's contact on damn near every drive to the basket to the NBA. It's the refs discretion that decides whether it's enough to warrant a foul being called. Being Bulls fans, you're looking for it on every time there's contact, then complaining if there's a whistle the other way if the guy doesn't fall to the ground(and even then most of the time he's "flopping") Should Perkins have had more than 0 fouls(going off of whoever siad that, I wasn't sure how many he had)? Most likely. Should Ray Allen have had less than 6 fouls? Most likely.

Expecting a flagrant on Rondo is absurd, and if the Bulls announcers were losing a lung over it, then they're just continuing their storied history of being horrible homers. Rondo took a desperation swat at a guy that was in front of him. This wasn't a "clear path" foul, it wasn't Rondo giving him a bear hug, it wasn't Rondo giving him a blatant push. It was a desperation swat that hit him in the face.

The Bulls have shot more free throws than the Celtics in every game but game 1.

Right, a desperation swat at the ball where Rondo simply misjudged how long and quick his arm was by about 4 feet and 2 seconds. He wasn't anywhere near the ball.

I think we both know that the free throw numbers by themselves rarely tell the whole story.

this is true, but i haven't seen much in the way of favoritism in this series, and i don't have a rooting interest.

SSR is also right about the "flagrant foul," it's never getting called in such an important spot unless the defender basically closes his fist and slugs the guy.

I've only seen Games 4 and 5. I thought we probably got more calls tonight than we did in Game 4, if anything.

I'm not really disagreeing with him, I'm just saying you can't disprove thoughts of bad officiating by just citing free-throw numbers.

I have no rooting interest at all. If you're a Bulls fan you should be pissed that your team could not hold onto a decent lead. Even if they do call a flagrant, it's headed to another overtime at best. The Celtics just flat outplayed the Bulls in the last 5 minutes and in OT.

So how far can a player get since it's the final 15 seconds? That's a slippery slope.

Loss is on Derrick.

It was a team effort.

And the refs didn't help.

He's the PG. There is no team offense without him besides Salmons and Gordon isolations.

I'm not mad at him or anything, he's a rookie. It's clear he's confused by what Boston's doing to him defensively. He can't get the dribble drive going and they're not far enough off of him where he's comfortable making jumpers. I did think we didn't do enough pick and roll though.

This is an awful, awful post.

Derrick Rose dribble drives and then looks to do what every good point guard looks to do when they can't finish which is kick it out to the open man. Unfortunately no one on his team gets open with a man shadowing Gordon at all times and everyone else running around like a bunch of 5 year olds looking forward to an All Sport after the game in their Biddy basketball league. The team has no defensive cohesiveness, takes terrible shots, doesn't get open, doesn't move the ball in the half court set up, is clumsy, is small and very very little of that falls on Derrick Rose's shoulders. This is a bad team with a few individuals who can pull games out of the fire and give people who don't know what they are watching a false sense of faith in the quality of the team.

It's pathetic coaching, a weird mix of the roster, unorganized offense and terrible, terrible defense.

This is a lot of excuse making for Derrick. If you want to say he's a rookie and is lacking experience in situations like that against a solid defensive team showing him confusing looks then I'll completely agree. He'll get better and eventually he'll punish teams for playing him in such a lopsided fashion. But that night wasn't tonight. He played poorly in the 4th quarter. How is that anything but the objective truth? He played very poorly on both ends of the floor late in the game.

The defense has been bad all year so that's nothing really new (by most defensive metrics he is one of the worst defenders in the entire league) but you can't tell me his poor play on the offensive end doesn't fall on his shoulders. It pretty clearly does. He flat out played bad.

Edit: The man has 20 turnovers in the last three games. That is unacceptable from any point guard. Rose would be the first one to tell you that.

What was Pierce doing with his right elbow? Was he going for the ball?

I'll say it again, some better coaching and perhaps, even an attempt at defense and the Bulls win this series.

I'm not seeing the officiating favoring Boston. There were calls that were wrong on both ends. Rose got clobbered on the putback attempt by Perkins. About 4 of Allen's fouls were cheap calls. Rose got a call when he put his shoulder into Rondo because he didn't have anywhere to go. Gordon, Salmons, and Pierce got hit constantly and got no calls.

The Bulls just blew the game. 10pt 4th quarter lead and they blew it in a hurry. That's on the coaching, the players, everything.

I don't hate Noah or Thomas....I think both would be fine if the Bulls had an actual big-bodied center on the team. Skinny, weak "big men" are going to be rendered ineffective when they're trying to defend guys who have 40 more lbs of muscle on them.

Garnett and Bosh are pretty skinny. Nobody complains about them trying to guard stronger players. The problem is they aren't consistent scorers. Nobody cares if you are a bad interior defender if you can make the other guy work on defense too.

Garnett has 20 lbs on Noah and 40 on Thomas

Bosh is pretty skinny though, just 5 lbs (and one inch) on Thomas.

Someday I'd like a PF on this team with Karl Malone's body type....

You really think FTs attempted mean anything? There's a lot to consider besides just that.

This is why so many people are frustrated over the NBA. The whole league is basically refs discretion. The rules are just there to make people think that something is actually being governed. But it isn't. The refs simply make an arbitrary desicion on foul calls, on every play.

maybe, but that's how the game is officiated in real life.

what? you don't see that officials call the game differently in the last 10 seconds? sorry but that's just the way it works.

That doesn't justify a damn thing. The fact that they may or may not do this crap consistently means that I can't complain about it?
