Getting Peavy is nice but is it really a good idea to get rid of DeRosa? He's been one of our most consistent players. I would like to see upgrades to this offense not have it downgraded by losing such a good piece in DeRo.

I don't really want to trade for a RF (at least none of the ones mentioned), but if half the package we traded for Jake Peavy included Kevin Hart and Jason Marquis I'd s my pants

If this does turn out to be true, then I'm sad to see DeRo go. He's been a very, very good player for us.

 

If it makes us a better ballclub in the end, then so be it. I really like what DeRo does for us though. He plays nearly every position competently, hits well, handles being shuffled all over the field/lineup without being phased by it. He's a good player to have.

He'll be 34 and probably not a Cub after this season. I'll miss him, but it'd be ridiculous to have him be in the way of acquiring Jake Peavy.

Teach me about Hermida, I feel like I'm missing something. He had a great year in 07, his first full year, but was pretty awful last year. His slugging and OBP took a big hit. Was there a reason for that, or are we just hoping to buy low and hope he returns to form?
