If the trade wasn't leaked I bet the conversation between Demp and FO would have been something like: "Ryan we got a deal in place with Atlanta, they really want you to help them get into playoffs. They would like to know tomorrow so please discuss with your family tonight and let us know tomorrow." Discussion with family: Pros Might get into playoffs. Cons Atlanta is no Chicago Fans not as good Will be living out of hotel for a few months and be separated from family once school starts. No increase in pay, that is a tough call. If it wasnt leaked we wouldn't know til today anyway.

Makes me wonder if one of the players coming back to the Cubs was taken in the 2011 draft. In the old cba you couldn't trade a player until a year after his signing. I wonder if that has changed and can that player be included in a trade as a PTBNL. Any ideas?

The Nats are staying in the race and have said they will shut down Strasburg before the end of the year. I know our priority is pitching and they traded a lot to get Gio. Could Demp get us Rendon and a pitching prospect? Would Rendon interest us?

Anyone think Theo could spin Wood to SD in Rizzo deal? Since we don't have an abundance of young starters.

In some way I think Theo might push hard to get Prince signed before the Darvish announcement. Whether we win on Darvish or not, the amount of bids might get out and then Theo might not be able to use the we don't have much money argument.

I don't think the Yankees would expect to acquire Garza without giving up Montero. Montero is there prized chip, but he doesn't have an everyday spot with them unless its DH. I doubt they want him to just be a DH. He is not good enough defensively to play catcher everyday. I guess they could try him in right, but if they had a chance to add Garza (who is AL East proven) they would do it.

If the Cubs decide that they want to spend their free agent money on pitching and fill 1st base and add depth via trading Garza. Do you prefer a package of: Moreland, Ogando and another spec (not a top 5) or Montero, Banuelos and others from the Yankees?

Garza has had a lot of success in the AL East, could Theo get Boston, NY and Toronto to bid against each other? What does Boston have that might be beneficial to us long term or did they blow their load to get AGon?
