I know so little about Rich that I spent way too much time researching him on the web last night while bored, than I planned to make a topic today, and did. Hoping for information and opinions from ones smarter than I, I got a bunch of tongue in cheek jokes about who knows what.

Hoping for information and opinions? Does the following sound like a plea for debate?

Rich Hill is Done

We really should have the funeral for him, to be polite.

He's done, game over.

Yet the OP complains about the response he gets. Go figure.

he didn't have time to research farther back than 2007, get off his back.

Knights of Columbus, that hurt. Great contribution to the thread too. Also, glad you could make the assumption that I've only followed the cubs, or more specifically rich hill, since 2007. Would it be better to have a huge freaking internet ego like most of you and just type that I know everything about rich hill, and for that matter, everything?

Apparently the league adjusted to Hill by....psyching him out into throwing wildly?

I can't count the sarcastic statements in this thread on two hands. Again, great post, full of substance.

And where did I say anything like that? If anything I made some vague reference to HILL not adjusting to big league hitters..not vice versa.

Look....When you make a statement such as "Rich Hill is done" followed by "99% of what I do know bout Rich came from that singular season", then you're going to get ribbed. It's fine if you think Rich Hill won't again produce as he did in 2007, but you aren't providing any meaningful analysis to back your position. Frankly, it would be tough for anyone to take your position on the subject seriously if you aren't analyzing the entire body of work. You, madam or sir, have contributed little more than anyone else in this thread.

you continue to get upset about people who are not contributing to this thread, apparently unaware that you have not contributed one bit of analysis/info yourself.

What a huge contribution to this thread. Good job.

Look, man. You could really help your own cause here by responding to the people actually trying to have a discussion about this rather than the ones you deem to be sarcastic and worthless to the thread. You keep making responses like the one I just quoted, you're just going to make things worse, and the discussion, which is already pretty much in the crapper at this point, isn't going to head anywhere.

Great post, full of substance.

Hill was dominant for 1.5 years in the minors and 1.5 years in the majors. Then he somehow "failed to adjust"...to what? How did the big league hitters suddenly force him to adjust? Did they somehow psych him out into throwing wildly?

Maybe if you actually used that 8 pound lump on top of your neck, you'd notice that not all the posts are sarcastic, and you've yet to provide a single logical reason for your assertion.

...so does Aragua start Hill again, is he sent to the bullpen, or does his stay in Venezuela come to a premature completion?

Hopefully they keep running RIch out there and he can come to camp back to normal and compete for a spot in the rotation.

I doubt it. The league he is playing in is competitive, and they will not hesitate to bench him if he's not going to produce for them.

Do you really not see how the way you started this thread lead to the sarcastic reponses you've gotten? Really?

It works for me, so yes, by all means, have a go.

Rich Hill struggled with his command in his VWL start on Wednesday, walking six in four innings.

He allowed just one hit and one run, but he needs to get his control problems straightened out once and for all if he expects the Cubs to give him another chance. He has a 6.28 ERA and 13 walks in 14 2/3 innings in Venezuela.

Are you trying to tell us something that we don't already know here? Look, this is really simple: there is way too much emotion going on in all of your posts. No one is happy that Hill's control has disappeared, and no one knows why it happened. Even if there were a meaningful discussion to be had here (and there isn't), it wouldn't happen because of the nature and tone of your posts. People here don't respond well to these petulant, emotionally charged posts under any circumstances, really. And frankly, the only posts that make the thread readable are the sarcastic ones.

You are right when you talk about the vets on this board and the difficulty of getting a post/thread accepted by them. The majority of their posts are probably shots at uninformed and tactless posters cluttering the board, but you'll notice that when any of them start a thread,* they normally make a substantive claim that induces discussion. The "noobs" and the emotionally-driven tend to treat starting a new thread like another post, and forget the substance and hurt any chance of a real discussion. Once you begin starting threads with stats-based claims and relevant information, things will get better for you.

*with the exception of maybe IMB. But 90% of them are funny.

Do what I do, just don't start threads. And any time you post, just make it a somewhat funny one liner that might possibly get an "lol" out of one of them.

Its....how I get my jollies.

Clearly another one of those vast right wing conspiracies, eh?

I don't really feel like reading this whole thread, so can somebody tell me if it is official that Rich Hill is done or is this just what someone is saying?

I'm trying to figure out if I'm considered one of the "veterans" on here.

Sure, I have the sign up date, but my post count was really nothing special until I picked it up over about the last year.
