We are down to 4. All things considered, would you rather have the Cubs wrap it up against the Brewers, or against our arch rival Cardinals?

I would love nothing more to clinch this weekend against the Cardinals and that jackass, Tony Larussa. Think of the satisfaction we as fans would get with that and Jim Edmonds would get as well.

Either way, we certainly want to wrap it up this weekend so we can get guys some rest and set our rotation for the playoffs.

Clinch it at Wrigley, that's all I ask.

Brewers fans and Cardinals fans will be equally funny when we clinch in front of them.

Clinch at Wrigley, and I want the circumstances to be where the Magic number is at 1, and the Cubs clinch it with a win, and not with a loss by the Brewers while they're sitting in the locker room, like what happened last year.

Yeah. All I want is a clinch b/c of a win by us in front of the Wrigley fans. It would be so sweet against STL though. But that could only happen on Saturday and I can't wait for that.

If finish this series at 1-1 with Milwaukee, we could clinch on Friday too. If we beat the Birds and Reds beat the Brewers. But that would require the scenario we want to avoid... we win early and team sits around clubhouse watching the Brewers/Reds game, hoping to celebrate after a MIL loss.

Friday would the "worst" scenario to clinch. Best to either sweep MIL the next 2 days, or somehow put off clinching until Saturday or Sunday vs the Cards, last home games of the year. Cubs start at 1:20p CST on Friday - Brewers at 6p CST/ Both teams start their games at 2:55p CST on Saturday / & Brewers start at 12:15p CST on Sunday - Cubs at 1:20p CST.

I want to clinch against Milwaukee, but that has nothing to do with disliking the Brewers (actually, I kind of like them, and would probably prefer that they win the wild card). The reason I want to clinch against them is simple: I'm rooting to win every game, and the only way we don't clinch against Milwaukee is if we lose at least one of the next two, and I don't want to. So there.

Nothing personal against all those that have tickets this weekend, but I want them to clinch tomorrow. Then they can set up the playoff rotation and get some guys extra rest.

Like was said, the sooner the better.

Not to sound like a frat boy Cubs fan, but it is hard to top the awesomeness of last year's clincher. First of all it was a really close race that was in doubt until the end, second of all it happened on a Friday night. The walk towards Wrigleyville was awesome. You could hear helicopters flying around the area in anticipation, and that only increased the buildup.

That said, this years clincher will be far less dramatic. All I ask is that the clinching game either happen when I am not in work.

Tomorrow afternoon is fine with me. Friday afternoon (or Saturday) would make for one hell of a party in Wrigleyville. If I got to choose and all things were equal, I'd prefer Saturday afternoon, so I don't have to sit here and celebrate in my office.

I just want it to be at home. I love watching the celebration on tv, all the reporters down there. I just watch it and smile for hours on end.

I have a ticket to Friday's game which will be worthless in terms of a clinching celebration.

To make matters worse, I had two tickets to Thursday afternoon's game that I sold a couple of weeks back after deciding to stick with the Friday game. Oh, and I'll miss the last half of the Thursday game because of a client phone presentation.

I got to see the clincher (in a manner of speaking - MIL was losing when I left GABP) last year...the same won't hold true this time around unless someone gives me free tickets. :(

I just want them to clinch at home with a Cub win. I agree with everyone else that it is ultimately better to get this done as soon as possible and set-up for the playoffs. HFA is still important, but wrapping up the division is the most important right now.

The great thing about the NL this year is that we will pretty much do both at once.

In fact, we potentially could do both at once if, say, we lose one of the next two games and Philly does the same.

It's certainly possible. With so few games remaining it won't take much. The division is locked up any day now and it would be nice if HFA was taken care of ASAP afterwords (or at the same time).

To be able to set-up our rotation, give Harden some extra rest, etc. It would be a great advantage to the Cubs.

geez, quite the sense of entitlement from a bunch of fans who have been cheering for a loser their whole lives.

i want it clinched at this ballpark, against this team, on this day, at this time, while i'm wearing this pair of jeans.
