Why aren't the Cubs wearing their traditional road caps (blue with red bill)? I noticed they weren't like that in SF either. Sorry if its been asked before, I've been out of the loop.

Please don't be serious.

Yeah man like I've said, I have been out of the loop. First chance to watch a Cubs game and get online in a few days.

A little scared.

If we win its a decent win...if we lose its a horrible horrible devistating loss.

Not much to gain here

take a breath, dude, we're an out away from winning game one against our chief rivals and the team directly below us in the standings on the road. this is a HUGE win

He's a little melodramatic at times...

Not really...I just think there is much more to lose in losing this game at this point than there is to gain by winning...I obviously hope we win

You can't freak out about how the cardinals won't go away with one breath and then say this win isn't a big one with the other.

Every team in baseball today is wearing the special 4th of July hats. They're trying to do it at least once in each ballpark, which is why they were worn in SF.

Except the White Sox who went with the camouflage today.

The schadenfreude I felt when the ump ringed up Glaus in the 9th was possibly the best feeling the in the world

It was great wasn't it?

He got jobbed, but some would say he deserved to be called out on that last pitch for so vehemently showing the ump up on the previous one.

He must be as stupid as he looks, cause how he didn't know that Wood would throw the exact same pitch right after that is unfeasible.

Woody really did get some "early 90s ATL pitching staff" strike calls on those last two though, no doubts about it. WTG Woody! :clapping:

The way he reacted to the previous strike called he should been gone anyway, cussin towards the ump like he did....a wins a win, i'll take it =D>

If Glaus isnt a bitch on strike 2 he probably gets strike 3 called a ball. But after the way he acted he should have been swinging at anything relatively close plain and simple. Hell one could argue Glaus shouldnt even been allowed to finish the AB because Ive seen players kicked out for a lot less than what Troy Glaus did tonight.

Finally a cooler head, and a purist fan. Let me introduce. Ive been a lurker for a couple years and they say a good opposing fan can find some reality based discussion here. Well like our forum, you have to take the bad with the good. The get-a-life crowd on both sides is appalling and should do that.

Cards fan, resident STL. Think our rivalry is way better than NYY BOS. Been to some of those. Those people are just drunks.

GReat game. Pitch duel. 3 dingers, the greatest play in sports. You got two, we got one, you win. Congrats. Z was brilliant of the DL, I thought he might have issues. Looper, two mistakes otherwise terrific. Wood, wow, he's found a new home in the pen. Poor Jimmy Ed, just not good tonight. But (jokingly) he's on your side so thats ok. And Marquis dont get any of us started!

Home plate ump is a jo. Four strikes in bottom 9th not called all game, 2 on GLaus, 1 Molina, one Ludwick. Im not saying that just for us, its been that way all year in the majors. Tonight was our turn. If leadoff (Glaus) walks (which should have based on the pitch) who knows. Maybe would strikes the next three out. maybe not. MLB has got to fix the umpiring across the board. It may cost you big time. You just dont know when. And they seem to want to pick fights. Nuts.

The greatest rivalry lives on.

Oh to help a few. The drive home doesnt go thru East St Louis--wrong direction. No tears in our town tonight, what do we have to cry about---oh never mind I wont go there. Cant by a tractor in St Louis, but you can in Illinois. And Ive sat in the righ field bleachers for our series for 14 years up there, the same ding dongs we have, you have em too. Just more of them, its a population thing. But lets not have a counting lesson for them.

Lilly/Lohse should be a great one Saturday. Be back then. Dont blow your hand off with fireworks tonight.

Cheers.

Sweet win! I was out all night with some buddies from work, so it was good to come home to a Cubs win :D

I was almost right with my prediction with Z. I predicted 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER. Instead he gave up 0 ER. No problem with that :D

FYI, Howry gave up the homer not Kerry. :)

But Kerry's scoreless 9th and resulting save ensured that Pujols' 300th came in a losing effort.
