When you walk 9 times in a game to go along 12 hits you're going to have a lot of runners left on. Sure, they didn't get the job done sometimes, but they still got 7 runs out of it. Why such negativity when we're up by three?

Well, Ward against a left-hander was likely not going to end well.

 

It's absurd how many pitches he's seeing so far this year though in his first few at-bats. He came into today's game seeing 4.8 pitches per plate appearance, and after a 7 pitch at-bat that's just going to go up.

 

The Cubs should also take the MLB walks lead away from the Cardinals after tonight unless the Cardinals walk at least 5 times in the last 4 innings of their game.

Granted we have left a lot on base tonight. But when you get a lot of hits and score a lot of runs (and for the record 7 is a lot of runs) you leave a lot on base. I really think LOB is a REALLY OVERRATED stat unless you leave a lot on and only score 0-4 runs.

Yeah, now i'm convinced you're a troll. Runners left on base notwithstanding, they've scored 7 runs and have had fairly decent pitching all game.

Yeah, we all craved a more patient approach. The LOB is a result of it. I think it is a very good tradeoff.
