Found this bit of speculation in the Trib.

Or perhaps help someone else, because Murton definitely is not in the Cubs' long-range plans.

General manager Jim Hendry sent special assistant Ken Kravec to scout Boston this week in Cincinnati and Philadelphia. The Cubs still are interested in Red Sox center fielder Coco Crisp, and now may be willing to include Rich Hill in a multiplayer package.

Link.

It's only Sullivan, so probably nothing to get worried about. But, trading Murton and Hill for Crisp would be monumentally stupid.

If the Cubs are planning on trading both Murton and Hill to the Red Sox can we get somebody back that is actually useful? I'm hoping for either Masterson or Hansen along with Crisp, or that deal does NOT make sense for the Cubs.

Sullivan probably got confused like normal. The Cubs told him they were interested in Crisp. The Cubs told him that Rich Hill was becoming available. Sullivan put the two together, but I doubt they were together to begin with.

Or it's still possible that he could be making up the Rich Hill part completely on his own. That second part of the line sounds more like speculation than anything else.

I would hope Jim Hendry knows that at this point Rich Hill is more valuable to us than he is in a trade. If you were going to trade him, you should have last offseason.

I was just coming here to post this. What an awful deal that would be. I don't know why the Cubs value Crisp so much. Not to mention, he's a massive douchebag and I want him nowhere near this club.

I was worried about this happening. San Diego, among other teams, doesn't have a CF at all, and even they haven't bit on Coco Crisp. Boston was trying to move him for months. Not so much now that Ortiz has been out and Ramirez was nursing a sore leg, but they want Ellsbury in there everyday.

Rich Hill and Matt Murton for Crisp and his contract? Oy. That's bad.

I'm certain that Rich Hill, Murton, and one or two other guys could land you CC or Burnett, so this just doesn't make any sense. If Hendry does this deal, it'll guarantee that we won't get a pitcher any better than Randy Wolf.

I have a heard time with this rumor simply because at present Hill has very little trade value.

I imagine after all the shenanigans Crisp pulled last week his trade value has decreased.

I highly doubt that. Sure his trade value is lower than it was after last season, but it's still going to be somewhat high. And it should be about a million times higher than Coco Freaking Crisp.

How are you certain of that? A pitcher whose value is at rock-bottom, a fourth outfielder and ... what else? Unless the other player is a top-50 prospect, you're probably not getting CC.

Coco Crisp stinks. This rumor has to be bogus.

I'd love me some Adam Dunn, but I doubt that Cinci will play ball with us. I read in (IIRC) Gammon's blog that the Red Sox are interested in Dunn but are concerned with his lack of contact and low BA. Doesn't sound very Epstein-like to me, but who knows?

This rumor is garbage. If the Cubs wanted Crisp bad enough, they would of had him in the offseason.

IF Hendry's gonna trade Hill, he'll be waiting towards the deadline and make a big splash.

This trade is not going to happen. I'm at home doing some computer training at the office, so I'm not with the team, but I checked it out. Cubs haven't seriously discussed Crisp internally since spring training. One thing about scouts is this: Almost every team has them all over the place. Kravec could have been looking at a number of players. That's what he does. But with Edmonds and Johnson doing reasonably well, and even a little better than that, and Soriano coming back eventually, something like this makes no sense.
