  1. I haven't read this thread yet, but how about this for a conflict? I'll be on my honeymoon. My impending marriage will have it's first test. :)
  2. Just strike out McGehee, we need to get through this inning to make it official.
  3. Please move this game up. I don't even care if we lose, I just don't want it to be PPD.
  4. He is really really bad. Good job, Ronnie ](*,)
  5. Yeah, Kevin Hart is going to give this lead right back.
  6. Wow, McGehee crushed that ball for a double.
  7. Me. I still question his bullpen usage...but, other than that, he's been a huge asset for this franchise.
  8. It sucks having to use both Marmol and Wood in a relative blowout after we've clinched the division.
  9. I really hope the Cubs can win this series, or at least split. Two reasons: 1) I want to face the Dodgers, not the Mets or Phillies in the NLDS. 2) I actually feel sorry for what their fans are going through. While I think really dislike some of their players (Hart, Braun, Fielder, Torres), as a Cubs fan, I know how they feel after seemingly being a lock for the playoffs for a good part of the season.
  10. I'm actually am a high school official and I know that, at the professional level, it's very difficult to see everything. The NFL has the replay system in place and, when you have something as obvious as two Bucs players throwing *several* punches, then I wish they would review that (meaning look at the whole situation, perhaps give both teams personal foul penalties...). Especially considering the importance of the call and the relative lack of force used by Tillman. On the other hand, perhaps that really gets complicated as far as what you review. Tillman has to just get away from the play, just get off the damn field. It's just stupid for any Bears player to get involved after making such a crucial stop. Not to mention, the game shouldn't have went to overtime in the first place. The Bears pass defense was really bad in the 4th quarter. Someone needed to get a stop.
  11. Does anyone know Z's career record v. the Cardinals? I'd like to shut up a friend who keeps texting me about how the Cardinals own Zambrano. I couldn't find anything on baseball reference...
  12. If they were average citizens, I'd have sympathy for them. These are multi-millionares. They have the resources to evacuate their families at a moment's notice. I don't feel sorry for them. The games should have been moved in the middle of the week, EVERYONE knew this hurricane was going to hit Houston and baseball was not going to be played there.
  13. Brenly lauding praise on Counsell, then comparing him to Theriot. He loves scrappy white guys.
  14. I'd really like to get Geo some rest, with Ramirez close behind. Ramirez has had very few off days this year. Quite a contrast to past years. As has been mentioned, I'd also keep Harden, Z, and Dempster from throwing in the Mets series. Let any of Marquis, Marshall, Lilly, or even Guzman start those games.
  15. I'm looking forward to seeing Geo get several days off these last couple of weeks, he deserves it.
  16. Man, this is so frustrating and I hope someone from the Cubs speaks up about it. This decision should have been made on Thursday, when it was imminent that Houston was going to be hit by the hurricane. This is a massive screw job to the Cubs. They'll either have to play a DH before the big Milwaukee series or we'll have 2-3 games to make up at the end of the season which does two things: It forces us to be up by 2-3 games instead of just one at the end of the year, thus reducing the chance that we'll get to rest our regulars the final week of the season. If the games matter for Houston, and not the Cubs, it will allow our NLDS opponent to set their rotation and get some rest. Just so incredibly frustrating. The decision was obvious (move the games and play as scheduled Fri/Sat/Sun) yet MLB allowed Houston to play these games at the expense of the Cubs.
  17. ..and he was raking in April. It's amazing that his struggles aren't discussed more in the media or by Lou.
  18. It must be noted that the entire team has been in a pretty bad funk over that time period.
  19. Ugh. Lee has to be the worst #3 hitter on a contending team that we've seen in recent years.
  20. Lou, Soto is a good hitter. You don't have to bunt with him. Idiot.
  21. I'm still fuming about last inning. Even the most casual fan could tell that it was an awful decision, yet the manager can't figure it out. How the eff does that happen?!?!?! This wasn't a situation where people were questioning the decision in hindsight. Lou is senile.
  22. At 10:30? I want your schedule.
  23. Where are you guys listening to Kaplan? I went to the WGN radio website and clicked on listen live, but it wasn't Cubs talk.
