  1. This is appropriate given todays events (warning for language): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VThLce8-bTg&feature=related For those that missed the first one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1tiCPRrz3o&feature=related
  2. If Howry comes in to face the heart of the Cards order...this one is over. We better win it now.
  3. LOL NSBB is funny today. I don't get the negativity in here one bit. Remember: Game Threads have to do with the game, not the season. Today Fuku is 0-4 with a K and 4 LOB... so yeah, today he sucks. Not to mention, he's underachieved for 3 straight months. That might have a little to do with it...
  4. Lots of complaining about the home plate ump...is is that bad?
  5. I understand he's a Cub, but you guys should not be using the term "Jimmy Ballgame" or "Hollywood" after the way you treated him for the last 8 seasons. That's just so wrong. Give me a break I was being funny, but come on. Was he not enemy #1? Cheering Edmonds as a Cub? Got that. But the lovefest? Give me a break. Long gone are the days of "Edmonds is gay, wears eyeliner, etc" I suppose huh? He has been productive as hell for the Cubs what the hell do you really expect? We want to win games, and Jim has helped us do that big time. You seriously cant be that naive to not see this I absolutely expect you to cheer for him. It's just weird to see the lovefest, that's all. Hated probably isn't strong enough of a word for his days in St. Louis. I see where you are coming from. Man, I *hated* Edmonds and really didn't come around until well into his Cubs tenure. He's greatly exceeded expectations and helped us win some big ballgames in a year that we have a chance to do something great, that's the reason for the love. Our love for the Cubs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>our hatred for Edmonds as a Cardinal. If this were an average year, I think we would still root for him...but it wouldn't be to this extent.
  6. No. He is putting up Jacque Jones #'s. It's also his first year playing in the bigs. That excuse is lame, IMO. He's 30 years old. It's not like he's a 20 year old kid who has 12-14 years of solid production. He hit well in April and has been mediocre at best 3 1/2 months. JMO. Except it's not a lame excuse. A guy playing his first game in a new league and at a new level of competition is just that. Not to mention that it's his first year in a new country as well. He's going to struggle at times. Yes, it would be nice if he was hitting better, but I'm not going to be worried until the middle of next year. Fair enough. Just different opinions.

  8. The fact that Fukudome was an all-star shows how ignorant a lot of the voters are. He is a below average major league hitter, especially as a corner outfielder.
  9. Pretty inactive game thread for a Friday afternoon Cubs/Cardinals game. :-s
  10. Very comforting to see the Cubs add to the lead. That always makes me feel better.
  11. Friday afternoon game v. the Giants. Right before the ASB.
  12. Awesome. WTG, Cubs!!! It's so difficult to root for Marquis.
  13. Derosa's up. Bases loaded. I did ~ 30 seconds of work then refreshed the page and saw 2 new pages. That usually means good things. YAY DEROSA! :good:
  14. Yup. Ugh, it irritates me so much. Everyone knows how awful Marquis is and he continues to get the ball every 5th day. He'll allow 4 runs in 5 innings and Lou will still say he pitched "ok". Lou was really irritated with him earlier in the year but all it took was one or two decent outings and now he's back to thiking he's a capable starter.
  15. Swisher. Easily. Really? Using hindsight, I'd take Fuk. Fuku is better in the field, but I think Swisher is the better hitter. That being said, it depends on what we had to give up to get him. I guess I should change my answer to "leaning towards Swisher".
  16. Dusty is something else. With the Reds lineup, they shouldn't be this bad.
  17. Why is Plesac working the booth in the White Sox game? :-k
  18. Exactly. I don't understand why the media refuses to call him out. He's generally fine except when dealing with the bullpen. He simply has no clue and makes the obviously wrong choice a great deal of the time. Ever since he yelled "OF COURSE I THOUGHT OF THAT. DO YOU THINK I'M STUPID OR SOMETHING?" at a reporter, he gets a free pass. I don't trust Lou to make the right decisions WRT the bullpen in the postseason. I hope I'm wrong.
