  1. Just so it's clear, this is exactly why Wood shouldn't have pitched last night. With a 6 run lead, at least *try* to get through the inning with Howry. Lou's bullpen management :-s

  3. Wood shouldn't be in this game. Lou, overall, is a pretty good manager. That said...his bullpen management is as bad as it gets. Brings in the Shark to face 2 batters Gaudin faced 1 or 2 batters Marshall pitched a single inning Wood closing out a 6 run game. Ugh.
  4. Yes it is. Im so ready for this game. Ive been waiting for this game since the Rose Bowl loss last year. Me too. This team may have a touch less experience, but is definitely more talented than last year's bunch. I'm excited to see Martez Wilson play every down and the Vontae/Macklin match-up should be a lot of fun. Our schedule is very difficult this year (Mizzou, road games at Penn State, Wisky, and Michigan), but there really isn't any game that I feel we can't win this year (note: I'm not predicting an undefeated season).
  5. This week is going to drag....6 more days. Beat.Mizzou.
  6. Also, I think it's worth noting that the ratio of people complaining about the pessimists to the people venting about the game is 10/2.
  7. In the grand scheme of things, this loss doesn't mean anything, it's merely annoying. However, I'd like to clinch ~ 10-14 days before the end of the season so we can get some of the regulars an extended rest. That makes these games a bit more stressful.
  8. I think part of the frustration is due to the fact that the Brewers just destroyed the Nats in their 4 game series. Also, when people quote the "even bad teams win 40% of the time" mantra, while that's true...I'd say that the chances of them beating the one of the top teams in baseball in a given year is much, much lower.
  9. I know it was discussed last week, but I love this .gif

  11. Meh. We are facing Josh Fogg. We should be able to handle even a mediocre Z start.
  12. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1119072,CST-SPT-cubnt21.article Lou, please continue to give Marmol his proper rest and we'll see him dominate.
  13. I do too, I'm sure he's not happy about it. But, this is the major leagues and he's been a disappointment. You just have to take the criticism sometimes.
  14. I think Lou's comments are just a sign of continued frustration with Kosuke. He's getting paid to be a top player on this team, yet he is one of the worst hitters on the club...and he's showing no signs of turning things around. I don't think it's going to cost us the division, but I don't have any confidence in him getting the job done in the the playoffs. That said, who do you replace him with? You will gain something offensively with Derosa in RF and Fontenot at 2b, but there will also be a dropoff on defense. The problem is that we have him for 3 more years. Ugh.
  15. I know the stats won't back me up here, but I can honestly say that when I see Fukudome come up in key situations, I groan loudly. He did have that big 2-run single last night, but in all honesty, if the pitcher showed any kind of defense, that was an out if not a DP. Me too, it's pretty clear that he is not a good hitter. His supporters on this site have dwindled down to a handful.
  16. You know you are a really bad baseball team if you get shutdown by the Brewers pen. Eff you, Hunter Pence! :banghead:
  17. At least it's a game...let's go 'Stros!
  18. Especially the fact that it was the 2000 draft, which was notoriously bad. Aside from #1 pick Adrien Gonzalez, Adam Wainwright whao was like #28 or 29 was the only player in the 1st round of that draft whose made any kind of major league impact. IE Luis Montanez. Chase Utley was the Phillies 1st round pick in the 2000 draft. He turned out to be ok
  19. I will never understand why some managers (Lou included) continue to throw their starters out there to throw a high pitch count game in a blowout. It just makes no sense. Any bullpen should be able to hold a 6 or 7 run lead over the course of an inning or two.
