  1. 1. Could you hit a major league pitcher?

    • I could hit one out of the park.
      1
    • I could get an extra-base hit.
      0
    • I could hit a single.
      4
    • I could groundout or pop up.
      10
    • I would foul a couple pitches off.
      20
    • I would strike out miserably.

In all honesty, I want to see how many people think they could hit an AVERAGE TO BELOW AVERAGE major league pitcher, and to what degree. I had a dream about this last night that I singled up the middle vs. Jason Marquis.

Worm burner or hard hit single? You are a Cub fan if this is what you're dreaming of!

I've had a chance to hit off one and it's fun as heck. I'm a guess hitter in this category.

I've I get unlimited tries, I'd make contact eventually, but if it was just a normal at bat? Easy strikeout.

If the pitcher is throwing only fastballs, I might be able to foul a couple off. If the pitcher is even mixing in a changeup, I'd have no chance of touching one.

Whatever bat you want. But the pitcher is throwing his normal stuff. I guess you can get a couple extra strikes or something.

I think I could hit an average to below major league curveball. I was always a good curveball hitter. A fastball over 82 usually had me swinging late though.

I'd have an outside shot at popping up/hitting a grounder if I guessed right on a fastball or he really hung something. Most likely I'd K, maybe foul one off.

Well if that's the case, it wouldn't matter if you gave me 20 strikes because there's no way I'd do anything other than strike out.

if i got enough chances i'm sure i could roll one down the line or split a gap. the first time against major league pitching? i'd strike out and i'm pretty sure i'd look like a complete idiot while doing so.

Think about the worst hitting pitcher you've ever seen. Let's say it's Matt Clement. He would look like Babe Ruth compared to any of us.

Ive gone into the cage and had my doors blown away at 80mph. After some adjustment i was fouling off some pitches and catching one here of there late. At 90 i might be able to get those real weak foul tips that would hit the ump in the face, there would definetly be a lot of whiffs.

I'd strike out miserably. If I could practice for a couple weeks beforehand, I could maybe foul one off.

I played non-stop until I was 13, then didn't play for a couple years, then played again for a couple years in high school. I did good in JV my first year of high school, then when I played varsity the next year I had the absolute worst coach that has ever existed. In practice we would be lucky to get 5 swings at bp pitches and then shag balls the rest of the time. Sooo, I never really learned to hit breaking balls or a good fastball.

I wouldn't stand much of a chance.

I've gotten plenty of hits off a future ML'er back in HS. If I was to try today, not a chance, but I'd prob. be very late on the FB and way out in front on anyhting off-speed.

I played into college ball and considered myself a good hitter, I had an average of .330 and an OBP over .450 in high school and the college pitchers I faced were nothing special to me but I quit before the season even started, just was tired of playing. I've also got to go to a real nice batting cage and hit 90 mph fastballs and was able to get some good rips on the ball after being so completely blown away I thought I didn't have a chance. Against a major leaguer changing speeds I'd be sat down very quickly, however if say I got to see 10-15 pitches I think I could manage a hit as long as he was staying in the zone.
