Not me. Last year really turned me off on Barrett. He was horrible, his baserunning and defense were even worse than normal. Then his hitting tanked. I have no proof, but I think Z just got sick of his B.S. so he clocked him.

He was good for awhile, but he needed to go. I really don't think anyone in that locker room shed a single tear when he left. Neither did I.

You think people that know the man as a person dislike him as much as you . . . for your own baseball-related reasons? We are talking about actual human beings here. By all accounts, Barrett was well liked in the locker room, and unanimously received a full playoff share.

he spent most of the year wondering whether he was going to have to uproot his family for crying out loud.

barrett is my favorite cubs catcher ever. he wasn't perfect, but i loved his attitude and the fact that he seemed to really hate the astros and cardinals.

Between this and DeRosa, your psychological evaluations of professional baseball players is questionable at best.

I really liked barrett - I hope he comes back okay.

On a semi-related note - I wonder how much his last injury had to do with the fact that he tanked offensively last year? I mean...One would think that taking a baseball full speed to th nads would mess you up for a while.

I blamed Zambrano for the nonsense last year when it happened, and I still do to this day. Most people around here did too. Then Zambrano started pitching well, and is still on the team. Miraculously, most people blame "idiot Barrett" for the fight now.

I think it's hilarious. Everyone hated Big Z when this happened ( I didn't really "blame" either of them, for what it's worth). But when Barrett got traded away all the sudden he became the A-hole who started the whole fight.

I liked Barrett. I think he played with heart. I think he genuinely liked being on the Cub and wanted to finish his career in Chicago. He made some lapses on defense for certain, but I think he made up for most of that with his bat. For whatever reason, things began to deteriorate last season not just defensively but with the bat.

Barrett lunged first and instigated the second instance in the clubhouse.

What about the people that didn't like Barrett before the "fight?" He was really, really, really bad last year.

i remember goony saying barrett lunged first last year, and i looked at the video of it probably a million times, and i still don't see it that way. he may have made a small movement towards him, but he didn't lunge at him.

It was crystal clear. Barrett started what he couldn't finish. Z was a complete idiot, but nothing would have happened if Barrett wasn't a hot head who made the first physical move. Z was just very quick to respond.

Yeah that's right. How dare I go against the established know-it-alls of nsbb?
