Yep. So let me get this straight.

 

A) You know there's a pending case against you already.

 

B) You know your boss already has you on notice for said pending charges.

 

C) You know you are quite possibly fighting for your job because your employer just drafted another running back relatively high.

 

D) With this knowledge, you get drunk, blow a red light, and fail a field sobriety test.

 

I'd say that's the definition of idiocy. Unless these charges are completely untrue, Benson should start packing his bags.

Benson's career is just another reason why there needs to be a salary cap for the NFL draft like the NBA has. There is no reason that Benson or any other player in the NFL should be one of the highest paid players on a person's particular team right out of college, especially considering the bust rate in the NFL.

 

Of of Benson's two arrests prior to the NFL was thrown out because it was a sham. Maybe these two are, but I don't know if Angelo will wait to see what happens in light of the Tank Johnson scenario (he gave Johnson mercy, but Johnson kept on screwing up).

I was a huge Benson supporter, even up until this offseason, but I've had enough. He's had his chances and he doesn't take advantage of them. I'm ready for the Matt Forte era to start.

 

At this point, I'd cut Benson, sign Travis Henry, and let Henry, Forte, and Peterson battle it out. If Henry doesn't mind being in a split role, split carries between him and Forte throughout the year so Forte doesn't wear down in his first year.

Bye bye Cedric the Drunk; you won't be missed. I think the Bears MUST cut him now. He was a bust anyway, and two arrests for similar charges this close together is unforgiveable. Sign Henry and hope that between him, Peterson, and Forte they can put up a semblance of a running game. Not what the Bears needed during the offseason after a disappointing post-Super Bowl season.

I doubt the Bears will cut Cedric Benson. Why? Tank Johnson. Tank's charges were alot more severely then Cedric's drinking. And the Bears stayed with him as long as possible. So I doubt Benson get cut before Training Camp, even tho they should, they just won't.

When you are making millions of dollars and are already in hot water there is no excuse for it. None. Get a limo driver or something. The guy is a moron and he's been a bust. Everybody knew it was a bad pick when he got chosen at 4 and was crying about it. What a head case this guy is.
