nice article, but it strikes me that at least 1, if not 2, of the guys you mentioned either won't be on the team at all or won't be starting next year. It's really just Lee, ARam, and Fukudome that are certain to be there. Though, to be fair, if DeRosa isn't starting, it's likely because he's replaced with Roberts, whose OBP would likely be even better than DeRosa's.

It should say "Cub Your Enthusiasm".

I agree with Hendry when it comes to players that don't have a good OBP like a Vlad (before injury), I'd jump on the chance to get him.

I guess I can live with Hendry saying that (although I'm sure he knows how much emphasis you place on stats like OBP, OPS, VORP and was just giving you what you wanted), but I'd rather Hendry place a little more emphasis on OBP. There were too many Jacque Jones/Jeromy Burnitz types on this team the last few years and it showed in our overall rankings. 2004 especially could have ended much differently if we had a more consistent offense that could get on base for our key HR hitters.

I think Bruce's article makes it clear that Hendry has only reluctantly mentioned OBP, mostly because people like Bruce kept bugging him about it. But he has yet to grasp the value of the walk, and really only thinks of OBP as an extension of batting average.

That about sums it up.

A really good example of this would be Kahlil Green

I have to say I'm a little disappointed there were no Susie Greene quotes.
