  1. It is silly to worry about Castro's power right now. He is a 20 year old kid that has a few years of filling out to do. I don't think we will truly know what we have power wise with him for two more years, at least.
  2. Demp has made 7 and 9 million the last two years and is at 12.5 this year. He gets to 13.5 in 2011 and has a player option in 2012 for 14.5. He has been rock solid for us. I wouldn't put him in the overpaid category, he might be there in 2012. What could the Cubs realistically get if they moved Lilly?
  3. why drop the fook down? More so trying to make the point that dropping Lee from 3rd to 4th to have him back to back with ARAM is dumb, that anything else is a better idea. I will retract that, since the top has not been the problem. Give Sori a shot at 3/4 in the order.
  4. The old man is desperate. Why not bump Soriano up, Soto up or hell drop The Fook down? I just don't get going back to having Lee/ARAM back to back? What in the world is dropping Lee from 3rd to 4th going to do? I would also like to see Castro not batting 8th but fix the middle of the line up first.
  5. There were some balls that were crushed last night by both teams that got knocked down by the wind, April baseball in Chicago.
  6. Welcome to the forum. I love people who make their first post in the minor league forum. :) Thanks been a long time lurker. It is much easier to read/talk about Castro/Vitters/both jacksons/Cashner than the big club right now.
  7. and Castro keeps on hitting.
  8. Special Assistant to the General Manager Gary Hughes Special Assistant to the General Manager Ken Kravec Special Assistant to the General Manager Ed Lynch Special Assistant to the General Manager Dave Littlefield Special Assistant to the General Manager Louis Eljaua Pretty sure Ed is not anymore.
  9. Isn't Randy Bush in the same position? Or is he just the assistant GM? Because if he has the same role, Bush has been mentioned for possible GM jobs. Same title, different role. Randy Bush is more involved with the minor league aspect of talent evaluation while I assume Maddux will be more responsible for the major league evaluation. I can't see Maddux taking on the same travel schedule of Randy Bush who typically follows the Cubs minor league teams. That is incorrect. Different titles. Assistant GM and an assistant to the GM.
  10. Pat Hughes just asked for a raise after hearing this.....
  11. Mark DeRosa was not a great player for us.....a good player, yes.
  12. I feel like that gun at Miller is pretty juiced up....
  13. Reyes OPS by year.... 03 - .767 04 - .644 05 - .687 06 - .841 07 - .775 08 - .833
  14. I thought DJ was headed to Boise? Or am I mistaken?
  15. Anyone know if DJ is in Mesa yet? or when he will be suiting up for them? I am intrigued by him.
  16. Which out of those 3 is the best bet to change positions?
  17. I am sure he can reach back and hit 95 when he needs to but would expect a a consistent low 90s.
  18. Cashner was Baseball Americas Prospect Pitcher of the day for 7/21........
  19. To make this easy....The Cubs are not going to get out of any contract with players.
  20. Cubs could emerge from this bankruptcy in days.....
  21. From my understanding it is to protect them from any future liabilities the Trib bankruptcy could cause.....It is a legal maneuver.
  22. I keep hearing people argue over whether or not to include Beckham in a Halladay trade. But since he signed his contract in August he cannot be traded until that date rolls around, correct? Other than a ptbnl of course. Or is there a rule about when you hit the bigs he can be traded?
  23. His arm slot and release point are very similar on all pitches....
  24. Probably pretty high. They wouldn't have wasted a 2nd rounder unless they knew he was signable. And given the team's connections to Mainieri, they probably knew what LeMahieu's price tag really is. Makes sense...thanks.
  25. What are the chances that we are able to sign DJ? Had a nice game last night against UT....
