The Padres were informed Tuesday that they're out of the bidding for Kosuke Fukudome.

Fukudome didn't announce his decision, but it's believed that he'll pick the Cubs over the Padres, White Sox and Rangers. If the Padres had signed Fukudome, they probably would have gone with Scott Hairston and/or Chase Headley in left field. Now they'll again focus on landing two outfielders, with Mike Cameron and Geoff Jenkins among the possibilities.

Rosenthal being interviewed on Comcast.

Fukudome is a Great deal for the Cubs.

Roberts trade possible but may be hindered by Angelos love of Roberts.

Don't think the Cubs will trade Pie.

White Sox really wanted Fuk

Great news! WTG Jimbo.....Finally a high OBP guy at the top of our lineup.

Boy, the K-Fuk jerseys are going to be replacing Wiis as the hot Christmas gift now...

Good deal under the circumstances, though I would rather have moved Soriano to RF and given LF to Murton, then spent Kosuke's money on a SS upgrade. Unfortunately that was not to be, since Lou regards Murton as nothing but a bench player.

Upgrade SS and we can call it an offseason.

You are happy with the starting pitching?

I'm a bit eh on the starting pitching overall, but I think someone like Khalil Greene would do the Cubs more good than attempting to trade for Bedard.

btw you guys know this is gonna mean that he'll either suck or be injured for the next four years, right?

Its the Cubs way.

It's rather apparent Hendry will not make the mistake again of letting someone come in and swoop up the guy he wants. It's really too bad that Furcal got away that first year. Imagine if you will a roster that had Furcal playing SS and then making this addition to the team.

RF: Fukudome

CF: Pie

LF: Soriano

3b: Ramirez

SS: Furcal

2b: DeRosa

1b: Lee

C: Soto

Yowza.

Here's his name in Japanese (the 4 characters are FUKU DOME KO SUKE, respectively). I'm moderately sure it's accurate. Slap it on banners, t-shirts, flags, bumper stickers, Photoshopped pictures, go crazy.

Is there still the possibility that this could happen?

Considering the names being thrown around for Bedard, I'd much rather improve the offense and see if Gallagher can hold down that last rotation spot.
