It's rather apparent Hendry will not make the mistake again of letting someone come in and swoop up the guy he wants. It's really too bad that Furcal got away that first year. Imagine if you will a roster that had Furcal playing SS and then making this addition to the team.

RF: Fukudome

CF: Pie

LF: Soriano

3b: Ramirez

SS: Furcal

2b: DeRosa

1b: Lee

C: Soto

Yowza.

Is there still the possibility that this could happen?

Realistically, no. But, I don't think that line up was ever realistic anyway, because if Hendry got Furcal, he probably wouldn't have broken the bank with Soriano.

Is there a Photoshop of him in a Cubs hat?

You are missing the pitchers spot in that lineup.

One kinda crappy thing about this is that Soriano is now permanently locked into LF. That'll make it almost impossible for him to live up to his contract.

My first post since the bitter end of last season. I've just been sucked in for another painful year.

We wouldn't be Cubs fans without this awesome annual tradition.

Yeah, sad. I think I need a therapist.

Upgrade SS and we can call it an offseason.

You are happy with the starting pitching?

I'm a bit eh on the starting pitching overall, but I think someone like Khalil Greene would do the Cubs more good than attempting to trade for Bedard.

I see that, but I'm all for upgrading w/ a RH SP over a SS. An upgrade over Theriot wouldn't be all that hard to find. I would rather see high OBP player at SS, and try to find an impact pitcher for the starting rotation. If the Cubs stay put at SP, the rotation of players in the number four and five spots could get ugly.

True, but think about how mad all of us would have been last year when Furcal was making 13 million dollars while putting up a OPS of .688. It goes both ways.

Wasn't a lineup, just position-by-position

Wow this thread sure has a lot of browsers. I heard he has a canon for an arm. Is that true? How fast is he?

Arm

He swings like Ichiro. He seems to lunge at the ball. But he hit a homerun off a guy who looks like a right-handed version of Billy Wagner.

The defense will make the SP look ok regardless assuming Aramis stays good at 3B.

He wouldn't have put up a .688 playing most of his games in the NL Central.

Kosuke Fukudome-OF-Player Dec. 11 - 10:52 pm et

Kosuke Fukudome and the Cubs have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $50 million contract.

We think the Cubs ended up with the right Japanese player after losing out in the bidding for Kaz Matsui. Fukudome will likely be penciled in as the right fielder, but he can slide over to center, with Matt Murton taking over in right, if Felix Pie struggles. That added protection could prove to be very important. Fukudome could be a J.D. Drew-type hitter for the Cubs. Maybe it will take some time for him to adjust, but even so, he'll likely post a strong OBP in a lineup that has problems there.
