Also Monroe will be playing today over Murton (??) today.

They didn't give the whole lineup, though.

Per WSCR update.

so is jock, but monroe in not murton...

soto lovers happy, murton lovers incensed... i am cautiously optimistic

My fear? They've decided Murton is the odd man out for the playoff roster so they're using their playoff lineup v. LHP. If Murton is left off the playoff roster in favor of Monroe, Jim Hendry should be beaten.

I'm starting to lose my mind over this crap.

For my own sanity's sake, can you guys, you know, WIN a game or two here? Or are you really going to actually drop 10 in a row to the Marlins?

COME THE HELL ON.

Murton

Season: .281/.354/.425/.779

August: .318/.375/.545/.920

Sept: .333/.409/.538/.948

Monroe

Season: .222/.306/.386/.644

August: .237/.286/.289/.575

Sept: .207/.281/.379/.661

Yep, makes perfect sense that Monroe should get the start today.

Lou's "gotta get those vets in the important games" crap is driving me nuts.

Monroe's got the definite edge in grit.

All the Kendall-Soto drama was just Lou's way of making everyone so grateful that they wouldn't mind Murton not playing. I think Lou is very fearful of Murton's defense.

I must say, over lunch I was just listening to Murph. Yes I know sometimes he's not the brightest guy, but...

He was saying, "and I don't buy that Lou's going to play Kendall all these games. He's just pumping up Kendall, saying 'you're my guy' but in reality he'll play Soto more than he's saying."

...and presto, Soto's in the lineup. That's not a bad call. It was in the midst of Steve Stone ranting for about 10 minutes about Kendall's inability to throw out runners, too.

I think Murton has to have some sort of minor injury today. This doesn't fit Lou's pattern at all, either his left-handed lineup (which Soto is in today, so Murton would be the only change from normal, and remember that Murton has batted ahead of Monroe the last few games they've played together), or the batter-pitcher matchups. Maybe his back is acting up again?

I'm pissed that both Monroe and Jacque Jones are on the roster.

We haven't had a semicompetent CF since Kenny Lofton left.

just throwing it out there, but maybe Trachsel's inability to strike any body out makes Lou want to go a little stronger on defense.

or, maybe they realize that an all righty lineup means Cedeno is the right handed thump off the bench and Lou has more confidence in Murton both as a pinch hitter, and in a righty v. righty matchup in case the Marlin's manager decided to go with a righty when Murt/Monroe comes up to pinch hit.

Yeah, I'm pissed at Jones and his 3 RBI last night too.

Logan Kensing sends his regards in today's Palm Beach Post:

MIAMI GARDENS — Logan Kensing wasn't the least bit concerned about the last-place Marlins sending Cubs fans into a panic over the possibility of another late-season collapse.

"I cannot stand Cubs fans,'' the Florida reliever said after the Marlins dealt another blow to Chicago's division hopes with a 7-4 victory Wednesday night. "They were passionate at my first start at Wrigley,'' Kensing said, referring to his 2004 debut when he was jeered in a loss. "It's the goat, right?''

I mean.. Jones has been alright for a little while now, but this is a terrible way to make an argument.

Steve Trachsel could go out and throw 7 shutout innings today, I'd still be as pissed as I am that he's on the roster and that Lou went to him in a crucial game.

Here's hoping he gets lucky on that one today, though.

OK, how about this. He's been much better during the 2nd half. One might say he has been a nice little constant in the offense. Oh and it didn't hurt that he had a hit and drove in 3 of the 4 runs last night. If this were Soto people would be screaming bloody murder if he weren't in the lineup today.
